What I am about to post may come across as mean, but that is not my intention.

A coworker of mine was there last week. I was looking through her pictures and there was the one for CRT. I was shocked to see a photo of a not so attractive Cinderella. This is the photo they give out as part of the package. She looked old and wrinkly in the face and her makeup was caked on. Now, I know we all have differing opinions of what is considered attractive, but this one didn't look like the Cinderella type at all. The coworker commented they weren't too happy with her look either. Did anyone else witness this not so attractive Cinderella.

so far the one's I have seen have been absolutly stunning... fitting the bill perfect...

We have close 'friends' of Cinderella (and other characters) here on the DIS so I hope people are careful and considerate with what they post.

I wouldn't want anyone's feelings hurt by fellow DISers.

Before this thread goes any further - please keep in mind that many Cast Members, their friends and family read this board.

About 6 weeks ago there was a similar thread started that turned very ugly - and hurt a lot of CMs feelings - please do not post pictures or any specifics about the characters

imagine if I started a thread about how ugly some DISers are -

the CMs that you are talking about could be DISers or could have created very special memories for DISers

she might not have been your vision of what Cinderella should look like - but she fit Disney's bill

I've never had any problems with any one I've met... although peter pan has been awesome, we talked to him once at the contemporary.

Very well said...

I would like to add for some going, that I wasnt paying any attention at the meet and greets - we missed Aurora at our CRT Breakfast so we waited in the Princess line, we also did 1900 Park Fair - so we have 3 pictures of Cinderella, while her autograph is stunningly the same, a couple of the pictures are different, not that I was paying attention, dd just attributes it to the wigs they must wear in the heat of Florida!!

So if anyone needs to explain, I thought that was a great assesment, the Princesses do indeed wear wigs because of the heat!! ;)

Goodness, I am sorry that so many others are taking this so personally :sad2: ! Yes, I have noticed that some of the characters do not always seem to "fit" the part.

I retitled this thread because it's more of the point I was getting at. When we were on the KTTK tour one of the comments our guide made was about how face characters have to look the part. The example he used was with regard to Prince Charming and how it wouldn't fit the character if Prince Charming looked like a 50 year old man. I'm sorry. I really wasn't trying to offend anyone. Thanks for putting me in my place!

I didn't intend to be rude or mean - just a reminder to some that some DISers are CMs or their families - I am friends with the mom of someone who is very good "friends" with several of the Disney Princesses and she was very hurt by the last thread!

I think that the wording to say she looked older seems like a much more appropriate topic!!

Maybe Cinderella was sick that morning and her Fairy Godmother filled in!!! ;)

Nicely said ;) I don't think the OP meant anything by this, I've read several posts by this individual and they've always been appropriate. However, I do see how feelings could get hurt.

Luckily our Cinderella fit the bill :thumbsup2

What a cute way of putting it! :thumbsup2 You definitely made me giggle! :goodvibes

My girls are 5 and 7 and they have NEVER noticed how one Cinderella looks different then any other. I honestly can't believe they haven't but they have not said a word. Cinderella or Snow White or Aurora are all just who they are. So the one poster that said they must have fit Disneys bill was correct IMO.

Um....hello....based on the widely accepted original European story of Cinderella (attributed to Charles Perrault in 1697) I calculate her to be at least 500 years old. In my opinion for a 500+ year old woman, she always looks Da*n good when I see her at WDW. :thumbsup2

And heck, even if our Cinderella at WDW is only as old as the Disney film that she starred in, she is still pushing 75!!! Again...she looks Da*n good! princess:

There was a post about Jack Sparrow characters in DL. The heads of that department were quoted in the artical staeing that they hoped WDW didn't try to pull this off as they can't even get the amount of Princesses that are not old or chubby looking to fll those roles as Fl is not a hotbed for actors.

My Jaw just dropped The I thought maybe it was taken out of context .

I think all the characters I've came in contact with Play the role very good.

My daughter has a photo collage of her meetings with all the "women" of Disney (we just added Mulan after our last Disney trip, now we just need Pocahontas for a complete set!)

In looking at the photos, which span 7 years, all the characters are absolutely gorgeous. Although I suppose "pretty" is more appropriate for Wendy and Alice, since they are supposed to be young girls.

So in terms of appropriateness - I do notice that Wendy and Alice are less "mature" looking, if you get my drift. Mary Poppins looks to be in her later twenties or early thirties, with Cinderella, Belle, Aurora, Jasmine, Mulan, Jane, Snow White and Ariel all looking to be in their early 20's at most.

Honestly, I've never had a character interaction where the character wasn't very suited for the part, in looks and personality. I think they do a great casting job. And they know their trivia too - my oldest dd always tries to stump them with questions about their movies.

Ouch!!!! Now that is really ~ugly~!!!

I just wanted to say that on our last trip we had a lovely, graceful, perfect for the part Cinderella at CRT and got some beautiful pics of her with DS, he just loved her, held her hand, hugged her, she kissed him on the cheek, it was so cute how he just adored her. The next day, we visited with Ariel, and got some pics of her as well. The funny thing is DS wouldn't go near her, wanted NO part of taking a pic with her at all, so we got pics of her alone.
It wasn't until we got home and viewed our pics that we realized Ariel WAS Cinderella!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We thought this was really funny. We also thought she "looked" better as Cindy. She was totally perfect for that part. I see the OP's opinion, sometimes the "real" person may not "fit the bill" as to what each of us may perceive the character to look like. I doubt any of us would "believe" it was Wendy if she was a 30 something japanese girl. I think it is best to leave the "ugly" issue out of it............ beauty is in the eye of the beholder!!!! However, the OP has a valid point that some of the characters may not "look" the part!!!

Maybe Cindy was just having a bad makeup day?
While I"ve yet to see an "ugly" face character, I have seen some that aren't the best fit for the role.

Flame suit on....
We had a breakfast at CRT when it was all the princesses. Well Cinderella came around and let's say "she fit the dress". I didn't think my dd would notice so the days pass and we have dinner at the GF. Cinderella walks up and my dd says" Oh Cinderella, Someone stole your dress and is wearing it at the castle" Thankfully she had not said anything at the castle.

And I may take heat for this
BUT that statement is just what these Dis boards are NOT supposed to be about!!! These boards were created to help share the magic and our love of WDW not to hurl insults, inflammatory remarks etc. I can't speak for others but that is one of the reasons I love Disney so is to escape the worldly attitudes and sniping, being in a place as the world should be. Getting away from the everyday pettiness and nastiness.

Sorry I am now off my soapbox and asbetos underwear on.
