A Not So Scary Trip Report! Sept 2009-WL!!! Update 2/14

Hi Karen,

I have never read any of your TR, but let me tell you, after reading this one I'm going back to read the rest....loving it!!!

Have to say my DD17 and me share your angst about flying. Last year we had to abort landing coming into Orlando and I almost had a coronary. Everyone always would say to me "Did you get nauseous"...and my reply was always, vomit, I was too worried about dying to vomit!! Unfortunately, this past time I did get horrid motion sickness, didn't get sick, but it was close. I felt your pain as I was reading....

Love your pics at WL! You look like you all have so much fun together, brought a huge smile to my face!

Can't wait to read more....subbing!!!

Wait, I forgot to say that your pictures of the Wilderness Lodge are beautiful. My pictures there always turn out dark.

Thanks it was neat getting to see them again! Thank you so much! I had a hard time holding my camera still sometimes to get good shots of the WL at night!

The Wilderness Lodge is so awesome! It's on my "someday" list!

Mmmm...we walked by there on Monday and it smelled so good even from outside!

Oooh I bet it smelled fabulous!!! It really is a neat place! I loved it there! Now we dont' want to stay anywhere else! lol

Isn't it fun starting out a trip at a new Resort? Unfortunately, I am running out of new ones to try - LOL!

Karen, great update!!! Love the Wildnerness Lodge, so pretty!!! Your pictures are great, as always. I was hoping to make it over there to see it at Christmas when I was down but didn't have a chance. I had a magical trip and Disney at Christmas is just truly amazing. Lots of great times to treasure were had. That is so cool that you were able to meet up with your old Youth Pastors, what a neat thing. I remember my youth group leaders, they helped me through some really rough spots too, I think that is so neat. Can't wait to read about your first full day at MK. Merry Christmas Karen.

Ugh I would have NEVER wanted to get on a plane ever again! I would take like a dramamine or something but I don't want to be all sleepy by the time we get to Orlando. The flight is only an hour and a half. Now with this terrorist guy and this fire cracker business on Christmas day, I'm a tad bit more scared.....yikes!

Monday, September 14, 2009 - My Dad's Birthday Celebration

We woke up and got all of our stuff together to check out of our room only reservation and into our adjoining rooms.

I took pictures of the hidden mickeys in the carpet! Hehe!

The lady at check in was SUPER nice and got us adjoining rooms that were READY!!! We were at the desk at like 7 a.m.!! lol! Ours had bunk beds! Hehe!

And a great view!

After we got settled, we hurried over to Roarking Fork so we could get some breakfast ... we were trying to make it to the opening of the MK!

We used snack credits for breakfast and got our refillable mugs!

The lake is gorgeous in the morning!!!

Waiting on a boat

Once we got on the boat I laughed...this sign says "Donning a life jacket" at work...we are always told to "Don gloves" who the HECK is Don and how did he get so famous?

Off we go!

We really didn't have any plans on this day...just WCC for lunch and Hoopdeedoo for dinner so we decided to go to a park that was close!

As we rounded the bend, we stopped. Apparently, another boat was in our spot! NOOOOOOO! We only had like 2 minutes until park opening!

Did we make it? Come back to find out more! Hehe!

(I really just have to stop cause I have to go to church!) More to come later....

I am doing some serious thinking about staying at WL next time. Your photos are gorgeous, the rooms....ahhhhh We stayed at AKL and SSR in August and loved both, but there is something about WL that intrigues me

Monday, September 14, 2009 - My Dad's Birthday Celebration Cont

So when I left off, we were waiting in the water in a boat for another boat to move off of the MK deck for us to unload. If that made sense! lol

We were trying to arrive before the opening ceremony started at MK.

As we were floating in the water, we heard the ceremony music start! NOOOOOOO!!!

After what seemed like forever, the boat moved away and we were able to make it just in time to see Mickey!

My mom and I had fun singing along! lol

I LOVED all of the decorations!!!! They were so awesome!

The first thing we did when we got inside was head straight for the Exposition Hall. I couldn't find this thing for the LONGEST time but thanks to some help from a few DISer friends (mainly PopArtGal), I found it!!!

My dad is so silly!

This is a spin off a picture my dad and I took at AllStar movies back in 2003!!! lol

I thought it was neat in here!

This display cracked me up because I just got the tin Disneyland Collection and all through the shows, they would put commercials up about the "1952 Brownie Movie Camera"...only $32.95!! And here they were on display!

We walked down Main Street and went straight for Adventureland with the Jungle Cruise. There was literally NO ONE around...amazing!!!

I could get used to this!!!

After Jungle Cruise, we decided to hit up Splash Mountain! My mom and I both wore our Poncho's!!! lol

This is my favorite ride!!

My dad and Jason were WET! We of course didn't get wet!! lol

Great update Karen, as always!!! The stuff inside Expo. Hall is so cool, I had seen it back in like 2005, but I don't remember all of it,so I wonder if they have added more. Also love the Splah Mountain photos of the words Its Truth, Its Actual, Satisfactual, I had never noticed them before, they are very cool. Can't wait to read and see more. Your trip reports are the best. I had a great time on my Christmas trip, TSM is my new favorite ride, also road Soarin for the first time, it was awesome, but I must say I am still a Disneyland junkie, can't wait to get back there, do you have any trips planned for out there?? The new stuff coming to California Adventure sounds amazing.
