You know if we hadn't already been there in 2007 for the GGVI, we might want to go back there. Too bad we didn't know each other then, you could have even met Sunny becuase that was back when she was well behaved and we took her on trips. She loved the Palmer House Hilton!

Dana, I totally empathize with your situation. I got my degree, but I am not using it, so that's something you at least don't have to feel bad about!

Sometimes I think our society really pushes us into college too early. It's extremely hard to know what you want to do with your life at 18. I've thought about going back to school to get a Masters but I am really not interested in spending any more money on education at this point, not whe I actually need to be saving for Jack's college fund :rotfl:

Some of you guys know about my extremely difficult relationship with my dad. I live at home, which makes life very interesting sometimes (interesting as defined by Wash in Firefly as "Oh god, oh god, we're all going to die"). Today, he decided to tell me that if I take this trip, I should plan on not coming home because I won't be welcome at the house. As much as I want to say screw him and go and just stay in Orlando, there's absolutely no way I could do that, because I wouldn't be able to afford a place to live.

So, unfortunately, my trip is canceled. It's either that or have my father kick me out of the house. I will make it down there at some point. As of right now, I'm still planning on making the gamers meet in 2013. I just didn't want my next trip to be in well over a year.

I'm so sorry. Your Dad is a real piece of work. Sounds like Fran's Dad, always hanging things over her head, threatening. So sorry. I hope you find a good job save up money and leave the house and don't visit him!

Did I ever tell you what he does to my brother? He just shows up. He drives all the way down to my brother's house (he lives on the south side, so it's a little bit of a drive) and then just expects my brother to hang out with him. And if Josh isn't home or otherwise isn't available, it's the end of the world. So, unless I move out of town, that wouldn't work.

:sad1:

So sorry to read that your trip is cancelled. :grouphug:

 It happens. Usually to me.

I'm sorry you have to cancel! Parents do make life interesting. Hopefully you will be able to find a job that allows you to move out and take as many trips as you like! I know it's hard to get in at anything above entry level with Disney, since they do such a good job of promoting within. It makes it harder for those of us that would love to work for them but can't afford to make entry level $$! I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Well, I'm starting a new job February 1. But it's barely more than I'm making at my current job (going from 8.25 to 8.50/hr), although it's a greater number of hours. Moving out is not an option unless I suddenly land a fantabulous full time job that pays at least $17 an hour, because it is just not possible to get an apartment in Chicago when you're making $8.50 an hour working part time. Even when I was making $11/hr full time, I couldn't have afforded it. I can't find anything full time that'll even look at me because I don't have a degree. But I can't afford to go back to school because I defaulted on my student loans due to being out of work and then being unable to pay the monthly payment they were demanding, so I don't get financial aid and I can't afford to pay out of pocket.

I swear, if it's not one thing, it's another. Sometimes I wonder just what the hell I did to piss off the universe so badly.

Ugh, Dana, that sucks! I know exactly how you feel. We were living with my parents and kept planning Disney trips and we'd get snide comments here and there about how "it's great that you can afford another Disney trip but you don't pay rent" (which they NEVER asked us to pay :confused3 ), or "you're going to Disney but you can't afford to move out." We can't wait to move out of our current apartment but it was a blessing when we first moved in. Decent rent, a decent amount of space, and no one to tell us what to do with our money!

At least you'll have more time to save up for your next trip! :thumbsup2

I'm so sorry you had to cancel your trip, that sucks! Brandon's parents kind of lectured us about taking our little December trip last month (well, his mom did) and I kind of had to be like "it's my money, I'll do what I want with it". I save, I pay my bills, and I go to Disney, if people have a problem with that, too freakin bad. :confused3

It's too bad you can't move out. You can't get a roommate?
