A Night without kids, where do we eat?

Ok, we have one night without our kids (age 10 and 8), where should we eat? I was thinking AKL but Germany also sounds great! What would you suggest and why?

I would suggest Flying Fish at the Boardwalk. We have eaten almost everywhere at WDW and my husband and I both agree that our best meal ever was at Flying Fish! It is out of this world!! Also, you could stroll around and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Boardwalk before or after dinner. They have neat shops, strolling entertainers, etc. We always make sure to spend an evening at the Boardwalk. You could even stop into Jellyrolls after dinner. It's a really neat sing-along bar with dueling pianos. We think it's one of the most fun spots in all of WDW.

If you enjoy a good steak, my recommendation is Shula's in the Dolphin. It's pricey but well worth it.

I recommend Narcoossee's at the Grand Floridian. I love the food and the view.

I also agree with the 2 previous posters as well. Flying Fish is wonderful and the Boardwalk is a nice place to stroll without the kids after dinner.

We ate at Shula's in August the steak is great. So was dessert! And one side benefit is that the Dolphin Club will watch your kids for free for 2 hours while you dine at Shula's.

Enjoy your one evening out with your spouse with no kids!

Our favorite non-kid night out is at California Grill on top of the Contemporary. You can see much of WDW from the restaurant and if you go at the right time, you can watch the MK fireworks out the window!

The food is awesome (especially the beef) and the desserts. It's pretty pricey (over $100 for two), but we don't get out much without the kids, so we enjoy treating ourselves!


I have never, ever had a bad experience at this place!

Yes! I second the vote for California Grill I didn't mention it in my first post because I do like to take the kids there. It is expensive, but my girls like the kid's menu offerings and they LOVE to go out on to the "catwalk" to see the fireworks The kid's menu goes beyong chicken fingers...the chicken breast is good and so are the mashed potatoes. The servers have always been great with the kids, too. But it is a wonderful place for just the two of you, as well.

Since you were thinking of AKL why not try Jiko's. They have a great fillet with macaroni and cheese among other things.

We also enjoy Narcoossee's and California Grill.

The ultimate dinner without kids is V&A...in fact it's the only restaurant at WDW that we've gone to without our children. Romantic, quiet, great food and wonderful service!

I'll second the nominations for Narcoosee's and California Grill at the Contemporary. Also Fulton's Crab House is a fav. of ours, we go there at least once during our stays.

It's wonderful to be able to go out to dinner without your children. Make sure you go late enough so that most of the families have come and gone. My choices are:
Palio in Swan (close to Boardwalk festivities which are adult in
nature)
Flying Fish, which has great food and is right on Boardwalk
Yachtsman's Steakhouse, a grown-up feeling with great meats
California Grill, for that fantastic view
Narcoossee's, for the atmosphere
House of Blues, which blew my mind with its ambiance and
knock-out food (very adult atmosphere late at night, don't
forget to check out the back patio overlooking water)
Have fun, enjoy, wish I could be doing the

Yummy food, great views (we ate in the lounge and had wonderful views) and you can step out onto the observation deck if you choose for the fireworks. We had a great time there our one night without kids in July!

Definately skip Germany - you'll want quieter for a night without kids....if you want to eat there, your kids will be right at home if you bring them along.

We ate at Marakesh for our "kid-less" night. It was really nice and the food was good. We watched TOD and strolled through France too.

Jiko's is the absolute must do. We just returned and this may have been our best meal and we even ate at V&A's. Still trying to decide which was better.

Another vote for Palio at the Swan! They have strolling musicians, and the food is fantastic! If you have DC, they offer a 20% discount too.

And, they're just a short, romantic stroll away from the Boardwalk, so you could walk over there after dinner and watch some of the street performers and go for a nice boat ride!
