A night in the Dream Suite report

Oh, my! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. You provided a lot of interesting information, and made us feel like we were right there with you. Congrats on the win, and I certainly understand your tears of delight/surprise when you found out you'd be staying in the dream suite. WOW. Just- WOW!

When the owners of the orange groves sold Walt the land, they sold it under two conditions: one was to keep the palm tree, and the other was to give their youngest son a job. Their son eventually became VP of the company. For the life of me, I can't remember his name, but he has a window on Main Street and under his name, it says something to do with the oranges groves. I'm sure someone can correct me.

I'm guessing that would be Ron Dominguez.

But, honestly that is not what I thought the Dream Suite would look like. I had a totally different theme pictured in my mind. I think I pictured a lot of Mickey and the other characters. Anyone else?

Now that I think about it, what I really pictured was something out of Mickey's house in Toon Town

We toured the Dream Suite last March and if I remember correctly Brian was our CM tour guide. The tile and wood work is very beautiful.

OMG we were there that day and saw you! You were walking with the CM to the front of the park. I pointed you out to DH and said "I bet those 2 just won the dream suite!" LOL

I have to add: thank you for posting the link to your son's report -my husband and I were reading it today, and we were in stitches over his Blue Bayou Cookie Boat 'play by play' - BUT - we are SO glad they he did fare well in the end!! I can imagine the temptation to wish to spend most of what you are given, and he ordered smart. (Just too bad he ended up eating the cookie boat on his own, poor guy. I can see why he did though, it certainly looked very lovely.) What a fantastic report with so many gorgeous photos - I was really pleased to see this report, as you feel you are almost right there, and can feel the excitement.

Thanks also, for letting us know in another thread the entire dream process - obviously, they do make sure it is completely random, and is all luck of the draw.

Heck, we feel lucky to just go to DL when we can, which has worked out to once a year in the last couple of years, but will likely end up being once every 3-4 years after our next trip.

Thanks for your sympathy with Tommy's cookie boat incident. The CMs were really nervous when the grand marshal parade car drove up to collect us and he wasn't there. I was prepared to go by myself, but inside I was thinking that I didn't want to do the parade; it was his idea and he's not even here. But thankfully, he showed up without a second to spare and smiled and waved even though he still felt bad. By the end of the parade route, he felt a lot better and he handed out the blue Mickey balloons to some children that were sitting there waiting.

He's flying back tonight, so I'm sure he'll start up his report soon. So check back on his report for more pictures, plus he writes a much more interesting report than me.

It's funny how a person assumes a dream moment is just that - but the reality is, stomaches can churn, people can get nervous (or eat too much of that darn delicious cookie boat), and things can happen... (I was REALLY glad you were able to change flights/son could phone in sick/shuttle to airport could be changed, etc, etc,!!) but I am very glad that you took the time and effort to post your findings - you were very well-versed with your report, and I enjoyed every word. I enjoyed your son's report for his candor, and of course for his pics. My husband and I were laughing with him as we read, as if we were old friends with your son; he has a way of writing from the heart. You've both brought joy to this board by showing us that real people can win the dream of the dream suite. So, thank you very much, because when we go on our next trip to DL, we'll keep that in mind.

Not rude at all, the difference to change our Southwest flight was $59 per person.

Was it an afternoon flight that you were scheduled to be on?

Thank you very much for your kind words. I was really apprehensive about posting a report because I didn't want to sound like I was bragging, but I know if another DSer had spent a night in the suite, I would really enjoy reading about it. My son, Tommy, has a creative talent for expressing himself. He's a very kind young man who not only has a way with words but also with people. Everyone who meets him takes an immediate liking to him. That's just his personality.
