Hi. After a long winter, here in Ontario its time for spring. But I swear there is a dead mouse or something, in this house and I am the only person that can smell it. Is there any hints for a clean smelling house. No I am not going to do laundry or bake all day. Anything nice at Walmart or Home Depot?

I like Glade Scented Oil plug-ins. Lemon in the main rooms and lavender in the bedrooms. :cloud9:

I like the 'Clean Linen' scent for a fresh smelling house.

Open all your windows, get some Glade or other fresh smelling candles, Febreze your couches and anything else with fabric, wash your floors. Put Arm & Hammer baking soda carpet fresh down, let it sit for a while and then vacuum all carpets.

Ugh. I feel for you. We had a dead rodent somewhere in the ceiling above one of our bathrooms (we had 3 different companies out, & no one could find it) and had to deal with the smell for 2 YEARS! We just didn't use that bathroom. It was a pain! I tried everything-- reed diffusers, plug-in scented oils, sprays... It then smelled like a flowery rotting animal.:scared1:

In my experience, air freshners over top of bad smelling stuff only makes it worse. :scared: Try finding the dead mouse, then deodorize with coffee grounds or baking soda. I've also used an odor removing spray called Zorbex. It's AWESOME!

After you get rid of the stink, THEN put out your favorite air freshner. :flower3:

No Febreeze in my house. My experience with it is that after a day or two, the fabric you sprayed with it started to smell awful.
Even in the Febreeze for laundry. A day or two after washing, I would have to re-wash the clean laundry because it stunk.

Precisely.

I've never heard of Zorbex. It sounds like it's similar to Febreeze.

Ive heard the trick to spray lemon furniture polish around your doorway and open windows :)

I like the tips so far, and I have a couple more.
We have cats, so our carpets will occasionally get that "stale" smell to them (I don't know how else to describe it other than just a funky stale smell.)
The best product we've found is an enzyme odor/stain remover called Simple Solution.
It comes in a spray bottle, but we buy it in a gallon jug. We bought a generic spray bottle, and we just keep refilling it from the gallon jug.
You can use it just like Fabreeze, only it doesn't really have a scent like Fabreeze. It "cleans" with enzymes, so it just leaves everything smelling fresh. We spray it on the carpet and furniture after vaccuuming, and we spray it on the drapes and curtains all around the house. When the carpet needs deep cleaning, we use the Simple Solution instead of soap in the steam cleaner. It cleans just as well, and it leaves everything smelling fresh.

And it never hurts to plug in an air freshener here and there throughout the house...:thumbsup2
