A newbie question about room service

Hmm... I wonder if I could ask them to hold the crackers but give me a little extra cheese as I'm gluten-free... And a few of those slices look REALLY skimpy.

I'm sure they'll hold the crackers. I don't know why they wouldn't put some extra cheese on there if you asked. Either that or they'd bring you two plates.

ETA: I think the angle that photo was taken at really makes the cheese look small as compared to the crackers. I've always found the amount of cheese to be just right for me and my DD to share, although we could really use a second Babybel. My decision after this last cruise was that I would request two Babybels on the plate along with the extra crackers.

The last 3 slices were thin, like deli sliced cheese. The other 3 were good size. We gave DD12 the Babybel as she loves those.

I wonder if they have any gluten free crackers for you Dug720? Rice crackers maybe?

Possibly. I know flying to Barcelona, Delta thought a rice cake and butter would be a nice substitute for bread. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: (And that was in BUSINESS CLASS!!! Imagine if I was in coach!!!) They got it right with a gluten-free roll on the way back to the US.

Definitely NOT bread! I know Disney World carries gluten free bread (Udi?), so maybe they'd have something on the cruise. You could certainly bring a sealed box of gluten free crackers on the ship with you though!

Good point! I'm already planning to pack some Luna Bars just in case - and for Castaway Day so I can stay on Serenity Bay and not have to schlep all the way back to the family beach dining area where I understand they take the allergy meals.

Every night we would put out an order for some muffins, coffee, and hot tea to have while we enjoyed our balcony before the "real" breakfast. If we put 7-7:30 it alway arrived right at 7. Such a great treat! And always on time!

Yes the rice cakes are the worst. That's what they serve with breakfast too. And for some reason we don't get a yogurt, but everyone else does and they are gluten free. It's very weird.

So the allergy food at CC is horrible. I would actually not order anything and just go up to a chef in the line and ask him to make you a plate from the back. I promise it's 1000 times better. For whatever reason the allergy food is always plain and unseasoned. It's horrible. The rest of the cruise is good, just not at CC.

I'd suggest you bring your own crackers to bring for palo brunch if you're doing it and your cheese plate. They don't typically have GF crackers. I've done 5 Disney cruises. Once on the Magic the chef at palo found me crackers but it was towards the end of the cruise. I think he went out and bought me some because I kept going to palo since it was so good.

You don't really need your food sealed. I know they say that. But I've had baby crackers and cereal travel with me after a week in Disney and also my own crackers that weren't sealed. Has never been a problem.

I was wondering if they would have gluten free crackers or bread that could come with the cheeses...

I've never asked but never been offered it either. I can almost guarantee there are no crackers. Even when I've been concierge there were no crackers offered. One time a cast member went when they were in port to go buy me some crackers. I always just bring my own now.

Thank you! I was thinking that it would be convenient to have a snack delivered while were getting ready for the evening. We have a second dinner seating and will be hungry between lunch and dinner. That All Hands on Deck platter looks pretty good. Is ok to order more than one of those for a room of 4 people?

It is absolutely fine to order as much from Room Service as you would like. I would NEVER do this, regardless of the line, but there are quite hilarious (but less than classy) videos on YouTube of guests of other cruise lines literally ordering every single free item on the Room Service menu in one order. I think it is awful, because you know that no one can eat ALL of that and it was going to be a waste. BUT....my point is, LOL, that you obviously will have no issue ordering multiples of anything you want to on the Room Service menu. :mickeybar

Totally agree. With multiple people, we found it so much easier to order multiples of things than trying to order different things for different people. Plus then it is harder to split it up when it arrives. We (with 9 people in two adjoining rooms) tended to order a lot of the AHOD, and the Buffalo wings, but the BLT sandwiches and some of the soups were a big hit too.

Oh, and don't feel bad about ordering from room service a second time in short order, either. One time, we ordered two AHOD platters, and a chicken wings, and then 10 minutes after it arrived we ordered a few more of the same. The only concern of the person on the phone was did our first order show up. She was happy to send us more. I explained to her what happened. We ordered the first order, then my two teen-aged sons returned to the room, saw what we ordered, and naturally it made them hungry :rolleyes1 so we ordered more food. She thought it was hysterical.

Really, it's a wonderful part of the cruise ship experience. I grew up going to hotels now and then for my dad's work, but we could never afford room service, so naturally it was this great unreachable thing. Being able to get what we wanted off the room service menu and enjoy the convenience, flexibility, and yes the "forbidden" aspects of it without guilt, was just great!
