A new show may help called Extreme Couponing on Discovery channel

I have not seen the show so maybe I am missing something. But do these people resell this stuff? I can't imagine why someone would buy that amount of stuff unless they were running a summer camp.:confused3

Some donate, some re-sell. I read the lady who built a room for her coupons actually donates/helps her community a lot and Nathan (the one who's been on twice) donates/encourages other couponers to our troops.

I think the people on it are a bit gluttonous. Wiping your local store out of 150 bottles of headache medicine....really?:confused3

I caught pieces of the show a couple of times and had to change the channel within minutes because these people reminded me so much of the pta moms in our school. Competion and who can do more, who can get more, who's better, etc. What on obsession! Get a life!

Geez.... Judge much????

Not really.

maybe she's in a contract and it would cost more to break the contract??!!

That doesn't wash -- if she had more than a few months left on the contract, theere would still be significant savings.

I'm sorry, I didn't see her post asking you for money to pay her bills.......:rolleyes1

Not me, per se, but what about all the "angels", out there? This poster has done quite well, thanks to the goodwill of a few people (angels) on this board.

Add to the fact there is NO moderation on this board...

No one on here has to justify to anyone else on the Dis how they spend their money.

I dunno - if someone is posting all their hardships in a public forum such as this, they had best be prepared to "show all their cards".

There are reasonable reasons why she may have cable and she doesn't owe that explanation to any of us.

Not to me and you, but I think she owes those "angels" a little something...

I am a couponer and really successful at it but I HATE this show. To me it just shows people how NOT to do it. And who needs THAT much stuff!?

I couldn't get through half the show...

my goodness it should be called Greedy Couponing... that was just nuts!

I love coupons as much as the next person but if I came home with 150 of anything my family would be calling the looneybin! :lmao:

And rightfully so... those people need help, Dr. Phil, Dr. Drew.....

I've watched it several times. I completely agree with you about the "competition" aspect of it. SICK! It seems to me, they just want to show how much "stuff" they can get for free. Seriously? The one guy had 100s of tubes of toothpaste --- has he looked at the end of the boxes or the crimp on the tubes? Toothpaste has an expiration date. The other ones who had enough deodorant to last 150 years?? WHY??????????

I'm a couponer but I would never hoard the ways these people do! When my grocer has a "stock up sale", I will buy several cases (12 in each) of vegetables and beans. That will last us about 6 months. I've also "stockpiled" toilet paper and paper towels when the store has a great sale and I have a coupon, but I've never bought more than 6 months' worth. 1. I don't have the storage space and 2. I don't need or want mice coming around looking for paper to use for their nests. (eww)

My typical grocery store "big" shopping purchase will net me between $40-$60 in coupons. However, it's all stuff that I use and all stuff that will be used within a 6 month time frame.
