Last March we ate dinner at the Poly (O'Hana) and my husband grumbled about how he just didn't like the look of the resort and would never want to stay there. That trip we stayed at the YC (which we love). We just came back from the cruise on the Magic and bookended the trip with one night at the AKL before the cruise and a night at the Poly after since we wanted to take the kids to the MK on Saturday. Of course, the MK was a nightmare on Saturday (hot and crowded), so DH headed back with one DD to the Poly to hit the pool and our other DD and I joined them about 45 minutes later (had a fastpass for BTMRR!). We ate at O'Hana again and were upgraded from a standard view room (coupon rate) to a 2nd floor lagoon view in Tokelau (2414) which had a spectacular view of the castle etc. We watched the fireworks and the electric water parade from the beach. For MK convenience, it is really hard to beat this resort. Anyway, DH now thinks the Poly is the greatest hotel and is so happy we stayed there. We all loved the pool and the relaxed feel of the place. The rooms are huge (particularly compared to the AKL and the WL where we have stayed previously). We will definitely stay there again. Funny how a great one night experience can totally change someone's perception of the place. I have to admit, last year I thought the place looked somewhat dated as well, but I had fond memories of staying there back in '72 (my first trip to WDW), so I had a higher opinion of the place to start with, but we really had a great time -- even though it was one night. Just thought I'd share..... :D

Casey's mom, I have not stayed at the Poly yet but am really looking forward to doing so on one of my future trips. I have seen the resort rooms since my sister stayed there during one of our group vacations a few years ago, and I have dined in a few of its restaurants. It sounds like you had a wonderful time there and that makes me even more excited about any future stay that I may have at the Poly. By the way, the Luau is my favorite Disney dinner show. It would be fun one of these times to just be able to walk back to my resort room after the show instead of taking a monorail or a taxicab.:)
