...boy, do I EVER! We were at WDW during Christmas Week and I specifically booked the return flight for earlier in the day of December 31 because of the scare...we lost two full days because of all that hoopla....

We stayed up to make sure the 'kaputers all worked. I stocked up on everything at home; including spare cold hard cash.

Your experience is by far the worst. I would have hated having to lose 2 full days. Did you consider staying? At least then if it all went *kaput* you would have been at WDW.

....believe me, I would have LOVED to have stayed at WDW. Hoever, the scare here was so severe, that I didn't want to chance no electricity, water, etc., God forbid that a catastrophe would have happened. Of course, none did, but, back then, who knew? Plus, at the time, the kids were much younger...

It was the same here. We stocked up on candles, food, cash and water.

….it was especially a shame to see how the older folk reacted to it….my BriL's neighbors were elderly, and when they both passed, my DH and hs brother (my BriL) bought their house to fix it up and flip it. When they went into the basement, they discovered cases and cases of batteries, aspirins, toothpaste, soap, baby wipes, canned goods, candles, and bottled water! How sad…

Were they of a World War era? I find that some elderly people I know are like that; and it's a flow through from WWII.
