A new Disneyland park in Turkey???

It wouldn't surprise me that Disney Would add a park in that part of the world if there are enough people willing to pay to make it cost effective.

seems a very strange place to me. Really not that far from Paris (3hr flight?), its a fairly poor country, in a fairly unstable region of the world, and they'd have no end of cultural issues (considering how they managed to get it wrong even with Paris to start with).

Personally, I think they should be looking towards Australia or even Russia for the next Disneyland. Or alternatively, finish building the ones they've already got!

So, I dont believe the Turkey rumour at all, unless its gonna be one of those clone parks!

I find it strange as well. Why build another park in Europe? Why not make DLP better?
And no one seems to know anything about it...

Disney wouldn't build anywhere in that part of the world unless it was in the UAE: Dubai, Abu Dhabi, etc.

Its much more stable and western-friendly.

Still, I think we'll see India or Brazil before any other countries

I doubt Disney will build in UAE since they are building Dubai land.

Hmmm not sure about Dubai either after the Dubailand farce.

India? surely there is too much poverty there still?

Im sure Disney is keeping their eye on all the BRICS countries, but they've all got issues at the moment. I still think Russia is the most likely of those.

I thought they cancelled Dubai Land, or put it on indefinite hold.

Still, it seemed like a lot of pipe dream stuff and hype vs. reality of what will be there.

I lived in the UAE 2 months of last year and at that time, they were building. But I don't know what's going on now. They made quite a lot of it, so I'm sure they will finish it at some point.

I've not been to that part of the world, but I was under the impression that hardly any of it had been built, and all the major parks are still on hold.

Maybe not the most reliable source, but heres the wikipedia link for it:

Well, they were building something there last year, but maybe it was only some hotels. Something that looked like a huge theme park was finished but not open. And lots of huge buildings were finished as well. I went through the area on the high way where they already had signs showing the way to different parts of Dubai land, but it's very big, so maybe that was the only part that they had finished. It just looked like they were working on it.

Im intrigued now! I wonder which park that is? I cant find any mention of any theme parks being anywhere near completion?

I did some Google searches, especially Google maps. The village there has no airport and no real major roads.

And 63 hectares converts to about 155 acres, a little larger than Epcot's Parking Lot and about half the size of Epcot.

Has anyone else read about this???

A friend of my mom just got back from Turkey and she said that the tour leaders were talking about it...
I find it hard to believe, since I haven't read anything from Disney (or the DIS) about it.

It's not a Disney park. Somebody appears to be using the the term "Disneyland" to refer any themed amusement park. The Rixos hotel chain seems to be connected with this project, but there's currently nothing about it on the Rixos website.

Here are more detailed photos of the construction wall:

Ah, like Xerox and Kleenex.

It doesn't surprise me though...I've heard that many times on many projects..."Disney is interested" and they think they'll get more investors that way.

Agreed. They even called it "The Disneyland", as if "Disneyland" == "Park".

They say the work has started - Disney would have made an announcement well in advance of starting it. It was about a year and a half between announcement and groundbreaking in Shanghai.
