My friend has 3 TS credits and has plans for tow signature meals--obviously each takes 2 TS credits...is there any credit for one TS against a 2 TS meal...in other words, one meal is clearly covered, but then he does not have enough TS to cover the other meal--can he use 1 TS to offset any of the cost or will he just have to pay for the second meal the old fashioned way and either lose the single TS credit or use it on some other TS meal?

No, you cannot split credits for a single meal. Your friend will have to pay with points for one meal and OOP for the other.

Of course, if there are two people in the party (and on the same reservation), you can use the 6 TS credits to pay for 3 out of the 4 meals and just pay one meal OOP.

No, they don't allow splitting between 1 credit and cash on a 2 credit meal. Either you pay with 2 dining credits, or you pay with cash, but you can't combine the two.

As noted, the answer is no. Options would include gathering more TS credits to use or paying OOP for one signature and using the extra credit for a different meal or simply changing plans to one signature and one regular, maybe Le Cellier at lunch.

This can be an easy fix. Decide which place has the more expensive entrees that both people want and use credits for that meal. At the second meal tell the server that one person is using credits and the other is oop. Then the person on credits orders the more expensive entree and the other person orders the cheaper entree or maybe just an app, then they can share dessert from the credits (honestly I would not pay oop for a signature dessert) They tend to be beautiful, strange and not that good :rotfl2:

As the others said, they do not allow you to use a credit for 1/2 a meal and then pay the balance in cash

OT: but just FYI for anyone that might not know: If you are doing a split stay and are using the DDPs for both stays, you can not combine credits from the two DDPs for a meal either, even if both DDPs are active on that last day of your first stay.:rotfl:

For example if you are doing four nights at CSR with the DxDDP and four nights at YC with the DxDDP. If you plan on eating at the Yachtsman the day you check in for the second part of your stay, make sure you have two credits from that first stay left over for that Yachtsman dinner that night, even if you have to use a credit from the second stay for lunch that day. Either that or make sure you have used all your DDP credits from the first stay prior to dinner that night. They will not let you combine one DDP credit from the first stay with one from the second stay, even though both DDPs are active that day.:rolleyes1
