We've had the iPhone, Wii, Kindle, and now Keurig collective. Is there any chance that the next collective could be a little less pricey? I'm trying to save my dollars for PCC 2.0 and y'all are making it a little tough.

How about the "dryer lint collective"?

I set my dryer lint outside, so birds and squirrels can use it to line their nests. How about you?

I have joined the Wii collective. It certainly has the potential to get expensive. I promise not to spend more than $350.

(Who has the money for the things you list? People I know in "real life" certainly do not! But people on the DIS boards do. Or, so it seems.)

How about a "library card collective"?
Library cards usually don't cost much at all!

Good idea...

We could start collecting Mickey Head paint chips... Do they still do that anymore??

1. What happens to all the collected Mickey heads? I am afraid they would just add to the clutter.

2. Also the problme that going to Home Depot to get a Mickey Head could be a temptation to spend money.
No problem for me. As an apartment dweller, Home Depot has little appeal to me!

I prefer the Dust Collective. It collects without me having to do anything! :rotfl:

There could be the "Casual Game Collective". I'm totally addicted to hidden object games and Diner Dash type games. I'm even in an online club where I get a new game each month for only $7. A little "Return to Ravenhurst" or "Dire Grove" anyone? ;)

Three of the items listed are fairly common.

I'm guessing that if you did a survey, that a great many households would have a cell phone, a coffee maker and gaming system of some sort.

Granted a Kindle is a luxury item but we are talking about $259.00.

We all make choices about what is important to us.

Except for the Kindle, I have all those things. If I wanted a Kindle, I'd get one. I have the whopping $300 that nobody you know has. It's a big world out there. Many people can buy a phone, a video game system, a coffee maker and an ereader...and still have money left over to get a GPS, high def TV, computer with internet, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, a DVR. :)

I also have a library card.

And dryer lint.

I think since you know me, you know (as does most everyone around here) that I am kidding. It's like budget board or slick deals - everyone talks about some really great product you were blissfully unaware of and now you find you MUST have it. It isn't because of WHO has it, but because everyone who has spoken about it are such great salespeople. Kevin - I think you felt that way about your new "coffee maker", no? I am easily persuaded, what can I say? Kevin, you talked about the great attributes about your Donner bag a while ago so I drove 1 1/2 hrs away to the closest REI store to check one out in person and snag one. If anything, I was merely poking fun at people like myself who happen to be be *sigh* in every one of the collectives. I remember a time when I was blissfully unaware of these great but expensive products. Of course, now, I'm sitting at my table typing on my iPhone, drinking a great cup of coffee knowing I can read a book anywhere I want on a fabulous eReader and later when I get off work I will be playing with my Wii. :goodvibes

I completely understand.

I read the Keurig thread and was at Bed, Bath and Beyong on January 2nd.

My response was to Mainegal's post about "people in the real world" not having money for such things."

Other than a Kindle, which is quickly becoming more common, these seems like fairly common things to own.

It's not like we've started the "Tibetan howler monkey" collective. We're talking about a cell phone, a coffee maker and a video game.

How about a Facebook Collective.. What games are you playing, what level are you on, Do you need help building your Barn?? That is free and lots of us are "doing it" and maybe we can entice Kevin.. I know.. it's a long shot!!

sears has lint on sale............BOGO..............you can share.

How about a collective for one of the other consoles. I know some people here have PS3s....

You bring up a good point. They are $30 off right now. Does anyone want to share why I can't live without one of these darling monkeys?

It's on sale!! As a wise woman once said if it is on sale then there is no reason...You must own it...
