I don't know if anyone else DREADS taking down the Christmas decorations but I am totally depressed every year when the day arrives. It takes all day just to do the inside ones (who knows when the outside ones will be thawed enough to disassemble!) and I have to force myself to persevere BUT...
We will be going to BWV in about a month and getting today's decidedly un-fun job done means I am one step closer to our trip AND...
The next time I see these decorations I will be putting them back up just a couple of days before our 2010 post-Thanksgiving trip, which is already booked.
Thanks DVC for getting me through a crummy day! :thumbsup2

Jean. I have to agree ... I absolutely love the decorations and enjoy them throughout the holiday season. But, taking them down and packing them up so dreadful.

I agree whole-heartedly - my only happy thoughts this year taking them down is that the next time I get them out, we will be getting ready to take a few with us to Disney for Christmas!!:santa:

I leave on Friday. I haven't taken mine down yet and not sure if I'll do it before we go. :lmao:

Nothing makes a miserable job better like adding a little Disney. Like whistling Zip-a-dee-doo-da while working seems to pick you up.

My tree's not coming down until February  Seriously though, I get depressed packing it all away too. It's a big job, and the kids want to have nothing to do with it.

Maybe I'll focus on the good coming in the year ahead... which just so happens to be tied in to DVC ;) It's a good time to plan a Dec trip too.

Most of our Christmas stuff is Disney related, so it is nice to think about a not-too-distant DVC trip to make the chore bearable.:earsboy:

How great to have a trip planned for next month! Once Christmas is over I'm ready for summer-it's fun to get the points chart out and start planning something!

DH took the outside lights and decorations down today, in the cold. I'm not taking the inside ones down until after we come home from the marathon.

I'm glad you found some good thoughts to share while you were doing that hard to deal with task.

Have a great trip, Bobbi! :goodvibes

Taking them down is a bummer for me too. Just finished everything but my big tree (took the little one down already), and that "everything" is ALOT!

One good thing though, we're on our way for our January trip on the 11th!! WOO HOO! So putting away the decorations is like the first step in getting ready to go!

I took our tree down yesterday. As I was wrapping the ornaments (mostly Disney) I kept thinking I need to make a Disney run and buy more ornaments. Unfortunately, my school breaks and my daughter’s school breaks do not coincide so no trips for me for awhile. :sad2:

The best reason to take a vacation at Christmas time. No decorations to put up or take down. Enjoy them at the destination and forget about them at home.

I so understand this. Last year we had a trip booked for the first week of march so we had something to look forward to. This year we're not going to WDW until november. (sigh...) Our tree is coming down today and I am so sad. Your post actually made me smile. Thank you.

Have you finished your dreaded job, Jean? We've postponed the inside work until we come home, so MLKjr weekend will see us putting away our inside decorations.

Actually, today we framed the picture that was sent for watching the Webcast and both DH and I are so happy with the results, that we hung it, and it just seems to add to the festive feeling in the room. So, we're not ready to put away our Christmas decorations just yet!

We took ours down today-we had to as we leave on Wednesday and I wasn't leaving them up until we returned on the 16th! I hate taking them down so early but I was willing to sacrifice for my trip home!

Where did you get the frame, Bobbi? I have yet to get mine framed.
P.S. Got all the inside stuff done yesterday except the tree. Did the tree today while watching the Viking game. Now to try to fit all of the stuff back in the storage spot in the basement. It's like putting together a 3D puzzle!

We went to Michael's and we first found a mat. The mat's outside size was 16 by 20 inches, so we then found a frame that size. DH worked on it at home, and we have the embossed DVC showing, and I'm quite pleased with the result.

We had the 8 by 10 inch Mickey print (like over the bed at BLT in a studio) and a photo pass photo that needed frames as well and did it all for under $35! I feel like we got a bargain, and I'm so happy with the results!!!
