I'm not talking right above your eye, but an actual pain like behind your eye with nausea. Anyone ever have that? Is that even possible?

I've had this nausea for a week..and the eye pain as well. Thought it was the stomach virus going around since I never actually vomit w/ the viruses just get really bad nausea. But..my kids haven't gotten sick, so I don't think it's a virus. I did have an actual headache earlier in the week, but that subsided. Of course I'm thinking the worst..that I have a tumor in my eye and of course we leave for Disney tomorrow. This always happens to me! Now as I'm tying this, the side of my nose hurts...maybe a sinus infection?

Yes, I've had this - it's called an ocular migraine and the pain feels like it's right behind the eye. With mine, I get flashing rainbow colored lights as well - called an aura.
However, since you've had this pain for a week, you should really see your doctor. Just because it sounds like a migraine, doesn't mean that it is one. For what it's worth, my DH had a migraine that lasted a couple of weeks, and he was afraid of a tumor as well. He saw the doctor and was fine - just a migraine. The doc told him that a tumor would have had different symptoms, such as double vision, dizziness, even seizures. I remember that whenever I get a bad migraine. Hope you feel better.

Yep, I get the eye pain with my migraines sometimes as well. NOT pleasant at all. :headache: Dealing with one this week as a matter of fact. :guilty:

Like the PP said, it would probably be a good idea to go to the doc since you've had it for a week. If nothing else, they can give you something to help it subside ~ once mine get to a certain point, they are almost impossible to get rid of without a Rx. I'd hate to see you miserable for your entire WDW trip.

Sounds like my sinus infections. I always hurt behind my eyes and in my upper teeth due to the pressure.
You should get it checked out.
Hope you are feeling better soon!:)

I get migraine pain in my left eye all the time. The pain is a pulling stabbing pain, almost like I can actually feel the track of the optic nerve as it travels back into my brain

Personally, I would get it checked since it's new. I get new weird migraine stuff all the time but I ALWAYS get seen when its something new because there really is no way to be sure it's isn't something else that mimics a migraine. After all when the pain & nausea reaches level 10 how on earth can a person distinguish one cause from another? Since I get all sorts of weird stuff that the Dr's keep saying is 'just a migraine' I pushed for a guideline for myself with seeking treatment. My Neuro recently told me to get seen ASAP for anything weird that lasts more than 1/2 hour because most migraine neuro stuff is pretty short lived and thinking about it he's pretty accurate.... most of the odd stuff does tend to disappear after 15 minutes ( like my peripheral blindness, face numbness, aura, I've even had my vision slow down to still capture photography ).

Anyway, there is such a thing as eye migraine but I wouldn't self diagnose. It's quick for a Dr to look in your eyes to make sure nothing really serious is going on and a neurological check is just as fast. The eyes are the window to your brain so bleeds or bulges/ stress will show there, and the physical neurological exam checks for asymmetry with regard to strength, co-ordination and muscle tone.

Think of it this way, won't you feel 100% better knowing you got the all clear before you leave for your trip and how bad would it stink if it all gets worse while you are away and it ruins your trip?

I had the same problem about a month ago. I went to a local urgent care because the eye pain really scared me. I had the headache and was starting to get cold symptoms. They did X rays on my sinus area, and it was a sinus infection. If you're leaving tomorrow, you need to go to the doctor and if they give you antibiotics, you'll feel better in a couple of days so you can enjoy your trip!

This is what happens when I get my worst sinus headaches too.
My dh does suffer from ocular migraines and they never last more than few hours so OP if your pain has lasted for a week I would definitely have it checked out.

Sounds likes sinuses to me as well, I get them a lot when I'm having sinus pressure. Hope you can get in to see a doctor!

Thanks everyone! I'm going to try to get an appt. for later
