Tomorrow (Tuesday December 12th) evening we will be bringing the new web server online.
What should you expect- The server switch will happen gradually, it will happen at different times for different people depending on how often their web hosts updates their addresses. You should be able to read and post whichever server you are on. You will have to log in again once you switch and that will likely be the only sign of the switch that you will see. Well that and a lot speedier board!

So, if you're like me and you don't log off after every session. make sure that you know your password. You will need to log back in at some point after the new server is brought online.

Yep, I actually have an alias for that very reason.

I finally found the page in my hold everything, disorganized notebook where I originally jotted down my info for this site, so I'm back to my old self... but for awhile there cats mom was incommunicado after our computer crashed.

I'm really liking the bit about faster boards.

I had a computer meltdown once and couldn't get on for the longest time because every time I requested to e-mail my password, it never came. I tried for weeks. I was bummed and thought I'd have to make a new name.

Eventually, though, my password just came to me (thank goodness!)

For those that use firefox, if your browser saves your password (not logging off, telling it to remember you) it should be saved under Tools> Options > Passwords > Show Passwords!

I don't use firefox but, I still cannot get the email. I have used the link that akamad4themouse posted and it tells me it will send the info to my email address but it never does!!!!! I am freaking out here. Please help. Thanks!

I used that "send my password" twice today -- once this morning and once this evening and got nothing at all.......

lucky for me, my DH husband remembered where we had the password.

This is exactly what is happening to me. I request and request but nothing gets sent. Everytime I come to the computer to get my Dis fix I can't help but think it may be my last time. If anyone knows what to do please post!

Check your junk mail file. It could be rerouted there by your ISP. Also, check your profile here on the DIS to make sure that you're not registered under a different email address. You might want to check th "Edit Options" page under "User CP" to make sure that you have checked the box that allows you to receive emails from administrators.

FWIW, I was mad4themouse until the great computer crash of 2004. I'd had my password "stored" on my computer and didn't remember it. I tried to have it sent to my AOL email address but I never got it. So, after a week of trying, I ended up re-registering.

Now I'm a little more cautious and I've memorized my password. But I have checked the link posted above and was able to get a "password reset" email.
