A MAGICAL Columbus Day Cruise Texas style 10/6/2012

Hey Everyone! So excited that we don't have much longer! I have checked in online but unfortunately can't check my mom in until the 23rd. So I am waiting to book our excursions so I can make sure we can all get what we want. I think we have decided to do the Island tour and stingray city in Grand Cayman and the Dolphin Swim in Costa Maya. I have been to Cozumel twice so for that day we are just going to go on our own to Paradise Beach for the day. Its a great beach with plenty of chairs, umbrellas, hammocks, food etc. I want to book Palo for our anniversary dinner on the 9th but without knowing the dining schedule and when the Pirate Party is I am afraid to do it because I don't want to miss something! It kind of stinks for us that sailing in Texas is new and we don't have much info to go on. I got online today and showed the kids (b/g twins who are 9) the ship and what deck we are on. We looked at some old navigators so they could see some of the activities they are gonna get to do. They are beyond excited! I have booked my hotel and my parking reservations now just to wait until October!!

Who is participating in fish extenders? Is anyone coordinating this?

I'm a total FE newbie. So, I'm not sure what to do. I've only recently become aware of them...

Fish Extender

Ok everyone I am going to give this a try it will be my first time so bear with me. I will need the:
Names, first and last of all people in the cabin
Ages of children
Gender of children
Cabin number
Email address so I can email updated list as needed.maybe this should be PM to me

it will be up to each family to decide if they want to do a gift per person or per cabin and only one gift or more it's your decision.

Be sure to include any birthdays or anniversaires and if there are any food allergies.

cut off date to sign up will be September 1 2012 this will give people 5 weeks to do something for the people who sign up late.

If I am missing anything please let me know. I only get on my computer a couple times a week as I am working long hours to pay for my next two cruises

I saw mention of the issue of parking earlier in the thread. I thought I would add some info. I just booked a room at the Harbour House for the night before and I was told that cruise parking was just $30 for the week. In checking around with other hotels in the area, they offer free cruise parking. Of course, the ones I checked with didn't have a shuttle to the terminal, so add in the cost of taxis, which I didn't feel like investigating...

i had friends stay at the hotels on the ocean side of Galveston and the shuttles can be a pain in the butt and don't always get you there nice and early like i prefer...hense we walk over from harbour house but again...it's a personal choice. Taxi is under $15 from ocean side to pier....

Hey Everyone! Since some of you were talking about parking I thought I would share my experience with Galveston cruise parking. I have been on two Carnival cruises from Galveston and we used EZ Cruise Parking. I have already booked my reservation for parking online. If you use the promo code Summer you can get $5 off your parking. So our parking was $45 (we have an suv). We are staying Friday night at the Baymont Inn. I have no complaints with EZ Cruise. They have 2 large fenced lots. The lots are a few blocks away from each other and we have parked at both. The shuttle was right there to pick us up and they will load your luggage on the shuttle. They take you right to the cruise terminal, unload your luggage for you. Make sure you bring some ones to tip them and the porters. After our cruises the shuttle was right there to take us back to our car. Very nice!

I am trying to figure out the answers to a few questions and thought someone here might be able to help. The 75 day check in mark is Monday for those of us that are 1st time cruisers. Do any of you know what time we can "check in or register" for the cruise and what time we can make reservations for Palo, kids clubs etc.?

Also, I am trying to decide if I should get my 3 yo a passport or if I should just use her birth certificate. What are others planning to do?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Our 4yo has her own Passport. We feel that is makes sense for her to have one.

The picture is rather funny since it was taken before she turned 1.

I got a passport for both my nine year old and my one year old. It's a document that is absolutely accepted and provides the best chances of reducing headaches. You may not need it, but you will certainly be glad you had it if the need arises.

Hi Holly, I asked this question the other day and was told 3 am florida time.I have to work Monday morning so I cant stay up untill the wee hours to do this, so I will try and check in before I go to work.

As for the passport it really is your call, two adults have passport and one has a passport card and the 3 kids are using birth certificates in our party.

So far so good, got all the excursions we wanted, and Palo brunch on Monday the 8th.Now just waiting to check in.Hope you guys are getting all you wanted too!:cool1:
