They did give FF a chance- Thu night at 8 is not a bad slot, its a lead in for GA. FF sucked, that's why it got cancelled. All the action on that show is the actors jumping to conclusions. Also Joseph Finnes was stinking it up on the acting front.

I agree on all fronts. They had a good time-slot, not up against powerhouses like House, and still couldn't pull in the audience -- and for the reasons you mentioned. Good move by ABC, afaic, even though I really was hoping that the show, itself, would be great.

I guess there is no reason to watch the 4-5 episodes I have on the dvr of FF - no reason to do so.

Well, if you've held them this long, just hold them a few more weeks, and then ask me (us) again if it is worth watching to the finale.

why would they force them onto a 3 month hiatus

Because the Olympics typically decimates ratings for competing programming, and missing several episodes of a serialized program (because you're watching this once-every-four-year event instead) would basically kill any chance of you going back to the serialized program. The hiatus was the smartest thing (perhaps the only smart thing) that they did with this show. The only thing they could have done better, in that regard, is delaying the rest of the first season until September, and present the first season really just as the first ten episodes, and then pick up the second season with Episode 11.

The problem is they never give the shows a chance to catch on!

Easy to say when it isn't your money!

While there have been cases when networks haven't given shows enough of a chance, generally they actually do, and in the case of FF they definitely did.

They didn't do that. They left the show in the same time-slot through the end of April.

Pushing Daisies, Life on Mars, and Flash Forward all tempted fate by being too far out of the mainstream. Shows like that almost always fail.

Not always, but most of the time, and generally because of what you've implied here... just not being very appealing to as many viewers as other shows would be.

I really wish more people liked what I liked... that would make everything better!
