There was no breakfast for us the next morning...we were not only still full from the night before, but our lunch reservation at Le Cellier was at 12:15 and we wanted to be hungry.
We checked in at the podium outside of the walkway to the restaurant almost right at 12:15 on the dot. Walking in to the restaurant from the heat of June in Florida was one of the best honeymoon gifts we received.
We were seated within a few minutes.
Our hostess took us to our table in the Alberta section of the restaurant. Forgive me for not remembering exactly what she told us about Alberta, as I was leaning towards heat stroke.
Our table was tucked in the corner of Alberta.
Our server, Darcie, greeted us warmly with our menus.
She congratulated us on our wedding and shared with us about her hometown of Toronto. She also told us all about the Pride Fest in Toronto (apparently one of the largest in the world), and invited us to visit her country, where equal rights are afforded to all.
UncleR and I each wanted something cool to drink, and we both partook in one of Le Cellier's yummy smoothies.
I got the Niagara Falls smoothie, which is made of mango, and UncleR got the Red Maple, which has Raspberry and Sprite.
Darcie brought us out our smoothies with a basket of the famous breadsticks and butter.

The three types of breadsticks included: pretzel bread, sourdough and whole grain. I tried all 3. The sourdough and the whole grain can go away as far as I'm concerned, but I hearted that pretzel bread enough to drown out any bad feelings I had about the man at the table next to us being seated practically in my lap.
Oh, didn't I tell you? In case you haven't heard about Le Cellier, it's...shall we say...cramped. The man's chair from the table next to us literally backed into the side of my leg. Quaint and dungeoness doesn't just do the description of Le Cellier justice, it's downright 100% accurate. But, like I said, the pretzel bread drew my attention away from the man at the next table being too close for my liking.
Darcie came back to take our orders, and here is where something I swear I read on the DIS came back to bite me in the butt. Somewhere here in the dining section I remember reading that Le Cellier's appetizer trio (which has a tomato stack, crab cake AND a serving of cheddar cheese soup) counts as only 1 appetizer on the DxDP. I asked Darcie and she said that no, unfortunately, the appetizer trio would count towards both of our appetizers. Boooo. I wanted to try both the cheese soup and the tomato stack, and figured this is how I could go about doing just that, but alas, it wasn't to be.
Instead, I settled on the tomato stack, which is served with carmelized onions, cucumbers, crumbled blue cheese, and a Yuzu vinaigrette. Even though I wanted to try the cheese soup, it sounded too heavy.
Oh my word was it yummy. It was light and refreshing, but packed with so much flavor. Of course, I love tomatoes like most people love chocolate. It was perfect in every way.
UncleR got the roasted duck meatballs, which are served on small onion tartlets with a cherry gastrique drizzled over the top.
Again, so much flavor packed into these little nuggets. She enjoyed this very much. About halfway into our appetizers I caught her sneaking peeks at my tomatoes, and frankly, I was peeking back at her duck meatballs.
So, I offered to trade apps with her. Cause we're married now...and I think that's what you're supposed to do.
Her duck meatballs also set my tastebuds flying. They were absolutely delicious, and while not exactly heavy, the taste was very rich. The small portion is perfect for this appetizer.
We were off to a lovely start with this lunch. At some point Darcie made sure we knew that we were allowed to request more of any one or all of the breadsticks. We decided against doing that because we wanted to save room for our entrees...
And for 2 dining credits, I just hoped it would be better.
