I'll try to keep these trip reports as brief as possible, I am a waffler.
Trip from July 13th -17th 2009.
Cast: Me (birthday the day we left, but not saying how old)
Hubby (35, loves DLP)
DD (8) Loves everything Princess, fairytale, and magical
DS (6) Loves Pirates, Stitch, can't say Goofys name without giggling.
Day 1
We left Ireland on July 9th. Due to my fear of flying we travelled 3 hours by car, 2 hours by ferry. another hour by car and a total of 6 hours by train to get to London. (involved 2 day stopover with relatives outside London).
Finally checked in to the Premier Inn Kings Cross on July 12th. Great hotel for the price of just £90. Would receommend to anyone. Quick sightseeing trip round London and then all tucked up in bed for the 9.53am departure from St Pancras next morning.
Day 1:
St Pancras and Eurostar a brilliant way to travel. Kids excited the whole way and I didn't even feel my ears pop in tunnell. Before we knew it we were in French countryside winging our way to the magic. About an hour before arrival, a Disney rep approached us and gave us our check in material and luggage tags for the Disney Express service. He explained it well and we were all set. At Marne La Vallee, it was a quick journey to drop in bags and 15 minutes after the train stopped we were stood outside the gates!!
Beautful suuny day and after the obligatry photo stops, we made our way in to fing Mary Poppins Step in Time just started at the bandstand. Perfect timing and the kids got to shake hands with penguins. We made our way up to Fantasyland and noted it was very busy. As all fastpasses for the day seemed to be gone, we waited 15 mins for teacups, followed by IASW practically walk on. After this, a 35 minute wait for Buzz and then a stroll to Frontierland where BTM was over an hour wait. We decided to take it easy and had a bite to eat at Cowboy Cookout. The menu seems to have changed here and there were wedges instead of fries. It was tasty enough and a duo were signing country and western tunes outside.
After this, we went to Adventureland and queued for POTC. The wait was 40 mins and we presumed this would be the norm for the middle of July. Turned out these were the longest waits of the week, with some rides being walk on every day!!
Its not that the park wasn't busy, it just seemed that there was so much to do that nothing ever got swamped (apart from the usual Crush!)
We strolled into Main Street to catch the start of Mickeys Magical Party and watched from the side. It was fairly cheesy alright and the costumes were a bit OTT, but the kids had fun and were amazed when Mickey disappearaed in a puff of smoke at the end.
It was not long now till the parade, so after a bit of strolling about and checking the info board, we took a place on teh pavement outside Plaza gardens for the OUAD parade. Have seen this before, but still very enjoyable, especially when Chip (or Dale) walked straight over and shook both DD and DS's hands.
After parade, we all felt knackered and started making our way back to Sequoia Lodge through the village. It was a quick walk and at the hotel we were thrilled to find we were in a 7th floor room with a spectacular view over the village and park. We stayed up to watch the fireworks over the castle and then everyone flopped down in the beds to an instant (but happy) sleep.
