Its kinda bothersome to me. DL is having the 50th anniversary. Not all the other parks. Its a bit like the parent who wants to celebrate all the kids birthday's at one party. The real birthday kid doesn't get to feel special on their day and they are almost left out a bit. DL should have been able to have its own celebration without having to share with everyone else. JMO

Dh & I were talking about that the other night -seems in the new year they've been playing LOTs more ads - ANYWAY---the way it has WALt talking about the opening of the park & it's a commercial all about WDW.... I thought Walt DIED before WDW ever opened -therefore he wouldn't be welcoming you to the opening!!!

For Disney, there is enough people out there who love to go and experience the "magic" (I mean everyday Disney Vacation magic) that they really don't need to fake some "special" anniversary to get guests.

I believe you're mistaken about that. Do you have any basis for the assumption that Disney's celebrations don't foster far greater demand, which Disney can turn into profit for its investors?

As a child in the 80's my family went several times. Never coordinated with any "special occassion" just wanted to go. I, too , struggle with the whole WDW commercial.

So what you're saying, I think, is that Disney doesn't need to have a celebration to attract you (and I, incidently) to the parks -- that's a far cry from there being "enough people out there" like us -- there surely aren't enough rabid fans to provide Disney with all the same revenue streams it gets today with all these celebrations. These celebrations aren't for the rabid fans, like us, but rather for the broader population.
