A little Texas Christmas Magic - 12/21/2012

So my mother, the travel agent, calls me today and tells me something VERY interesting.
DCL sent a message out to travel agents. Book 3 reservations on the Magic Dec 21st-29 and you could win a free Disney Cruise!
In other words, our cruise is not full and they need to drum up sales. This just came out today, not sure if DCL will drop prices to fill us up.
:scared:

Hi all. I know this has been covered some elsewhere but thought I would ask some of the locals here. We are flying into Hobby on the 20th staying at Harbor House. Should I just bite the bullet with super shuttle to get us there? Seems so expensive. Any thoughts will be appreciated. :confused3

We are flying into Hobby on the 20th as well and are staying
at a hotel near the airport. The hotel will shuttle us back and
forth from the airport so we are taking Disney transfers on the
21st from the airport for $30 per person. For 3
people that was the cheapest route for us.

I updated MjDisFamCruisers and Brooklyn's room assignments.

If you are interested in joining the FE exchange - read the information in post #64 and 65.:cool2:

Good Afternoon,

My husband and I are already signed up for the ornament exchange, but we were just assigned a cabin number: Room # 5142, Category 07A, Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Navigator's Verandah. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks!

Hi everyone! Just got off the Magic this morning! Had a great Halloween cruise! Now I can start planning this one! In Cozumel,we went to Chankanaab park on our own. Took a taxi from town right outside the pier for $10. We had our snorkeling gear with us and planned to just enjoy the beach but decided to swim with the Manatees. We did not reserve ahead. we arrived at 9:15am and got a 10am spot. That was amazing!!! We spent a full 30 min in the water with 3 of them in a group of 8. We got to swim with them and feed them continuously. We each posed for some photos kissing them, holding up their fins, and hugging them. Cost was $59 per person. Afterwards, we had lunch, toured replicas of Mayan ruins, then watched a sea lion show, then snorkeled. We had brought our own mask, snorkel and fins, and the vests were free. I snorkeled for about 30 min and saw hundreds of fish! Great day! In Costa Maya, we went to the ruins on the DCL excursion. I was glad to go with DCL as it was an hour to get there. Our all aboard time was 5:30pm. We got back around 5:40pm. I would not attempt an excursion that was a long distance away from the ship on your own. :)

It will be fun! I am going to discourage the "stealing", though. Stealing is often a lot of fun when the group knows eachother well or when it is a "white elephant" gift no one wants to be stuck with.
I don't want anyone to get the impression that their ornament wasn't good enough & wasn't kept/stolen. This is a chance to meet & enjoy eachother, I would feel terrible if someone's feelings were hurt over an ornament.
Let's keep it simple & depending on the size of the group decide whether to meet in a lounge or deck area. (somewhere to get beverages!)

Just to clarify, is it one ornament per stateroom or one per family. We have 2 rooms but it is me, my husband and 3 kids.

Thanks for adding us to the Ornament Exchange and the FE. I will find our room numbers and post them soon.

Halloween Magic was nice, great weather, ship sailed well under capacity. Port of course not as nice as PC but ok, smaller. Unless they came out after we boarded, no characters our for pics at the port.

Parking was easy and they shuttle you from parking lot across the street (railroad tracks) to the terminal. Very painless, quick process. But if planning tips, the porter and the shuttle driver are two different people and both will help with your bags (if that makes sense). Alternative of course drop off family with luggage, then park and take shuttle solo.

With our average luggage count I think I will have to chose the 2nd option! LOL :rotfl:

Thanks so much for organizing the ornament exchange it sounds like a lot of fun! So does each person participating in the ornament exchange bring an ornament or is it one ornament per cabin? Also, do we wrap the ornament or have it visible for everyone to see? We have never participated in an ornament exchange before and just want to make sure we are going about this correctly :)

We should do 1 per stateroom, and yes, try to wrap it or bring in a gift bag. I will have numbered pieces of paper & we will choose in order.

Just to clarify, is it one ornament per stateroom or one per family. We have 2 rooms but it is me, my husband and 3 kids.

Hope this helps! :) I think it should be one per family...so that way each family gets one ornament...we will have to wait and see what skypixy thinks! :scratchin

Hello...:wave2:

I wanted to let everyone know that I created a google spreadsheet for this cruise. These spreadsheets are a great way to keep track on information.

Here is the link: Google Spreadsheet

I also started a Facebook Page. If anyone wants to connect that way here is the link: Facebook Page

We have had Facebook pages for the last few cruises and they have been great! I tend to be on FB more than the DIS. It is also a great way to share links and photos! :)

:thumbsup2

Thanks so much for the spreadsheet & the FB page. It is easier for me to load pics on FB, and if anyone wants to add photos of their family we can get to know eachother. I am going to try to find some to post from our 2010 Christmas cruise.

:thumbsup2 Yeah it is so much easier to put a "face" with a name and also to share photos and such!

Yeah for FB page and Spreadsheet :)

I added our info already.

We are one family but 3 rooms, want to spread out. My dd21 would like to do her own ornament for the exchange if possible.

Silly but filling in the spreadsheet made me feel official :)

We are really disappointed that now there is a facebook page that we will not be able to share into conversations because we do not have a facebook account...we always thought that this is what the DISboards were for...very disappointed :sad2:

It is not a reploacement but another place to share. The FB pages have become more and more popular. The conversation can still continue here but for instance I can share my album from the Christmas cruise last year on FB much easier than I can here on the DIS. People have asked what the ship is like, etc on Christmas :santa: and there are also first time cruisers that can benefit from being able to share photos and ideas. I am sorry that you are so disappointed. I don't however think that this is a bad thing...just another way to communicate. :surfweb:
