A little Texas Christmas Magic - 12/21/2012

Wow! Sounds like you have a big family! 38 cruises? I would love to hear what you have to say about Galvenston Port, or is it Port Galvenston. How many Christmas cruises have you been on? Your experience will be so helpful:teacher:

6 daughters, 1 son. (2 older daughters can't make this cruise). This Saturday will be our first time cruising out of Galveston and anxious to check out the port.

This will be our first time being on the ship for Christmas day. We waited to cruise Christmas week until the kids were bigger. Usually we cruise the weeks before Christmas and love it!

Kids have made some great friends on our previous cruises and are looking forward to being on the Magic for Christmas!

:wave2: Count us in!:dance3:

I see a few people we have sailed with before! :cool1:

We are:
Me - Stephanie
DD (11) - Brooklyn princess:
DD (7) - Madison princess:
Grandma - Linda

My husband just deployed to Afghanistan last week  and we figured this would be the best way to take a sad situation and make it happy (well as happy as we can make it)

This will be my 15th DCL cruise. We have sailed with grlzmom before and super excited to be sailing with them again! :yay: J - we really need to cruise when both are husbands are there! lol

:wave2: Hi to jgura and sinnika too!

We sailed on the Wonder 8 night Christmas sailing last year. We were a group of 14 and had a blast!

We would like to be apart of the FE

We also would like to be apart of an ornament exchange (if there is one)

Is there a google spreadsheet to keep track of everything? We have used that on past cruises and it is a great way to keep everything straight. This is a link to a past cruise. This was a HUGE cruise so there are a lot of different events and such that people were signing up for. Just an idea. :flower3:

Also, is there a facebook page? I know some of my recent cruises have had a FB page and it is a great way to communicate.

SO EXCITED!!!

Stephanie so excited to cruise with you again, my girls are going to be thrilled.

We also would love to do FE, ornament exchange, candy exchange, kid exchange, whatever you all have going on!

Hi Stephanie!
Excited that you decided to come! Hopefully our girls can spend some time together this cruise. I cannot wait to see all their cute outfits! Do you think yours will still wear princess dresses? I think mine will. Some neighbors of ours, not on the boards, are going too. They have dd 7 and dd 9. We have a Palo ressie if you & your mom want to join us, maybe we can arrange it on boarding day.

Hi All -
I've been procrastinating doing housework and found out a few things. There will be 2 ships in port in Key West. The other one is Jewel of the seas which holds about 2400 people. In Costa Maya we will be the only one in port that day:yay:. In Cozumel there will be 5 ships in port, one being the Oasis of the Seas Megaship holding 6500 people:sad: I think I don't even want to get off the ship that day. If you are thinking about going on the Freny Catamaran and Beach stop (way cool water fun for the kids!), the beach they drop you off on is Paradise Beach which you can get to by cab for around $12. EVERYBODY from EVERY ship can get there by cab....We are going to the other side of the island to get away from the crowds. I suspect that even on the other side it will be a lot busier than usual with (I did the math) 16,500 people on those 5 ships.:scared:
Just some food for thought - talk amongst yourselves.....lol!

So glad to see this Christmas cruise starting to get rolling! We've got some serious DCL cruisers! This will make my 9th DCL cruise. #7 for DH and kids.
I would love to participate in an ornament exchange. Not sure about FE.
We leave Saturday for the Halloween cruise. Looking forward to the festivities on that one too! I've always wanted to spend Christmas on my favorite ship!
Now I get to spend my 2 favorite holidays with the Mouse! :)

Thank you for the info! How and where did you find this?

Happy to see some movies the kids haven't seen yet.

You can call DCL and they will give you this info. Now if they would tell me which shows are on which night I would be much happier! lol I am a planner! I don't like "not knowing".

I was noticing on the Magic they are having Villians Tonight on Pirate Night. I am really wondering if that will be the case on this 8 night cruise. Girls have dresses for Villians Tonight and Pirate costumes. I would prefer them on different nights. Usually it is a movie on pirate night.

My parents were visiting from Chicago last week & were lurking on our meet thread (if they are still occasionally reading...Hi!) They would like to participate in the FE exchange too (don't nag mom...see, I didn't forget!)

I'm trying to figure out how I want to do our FE. This is our first time participating. When you have 2 staterooms do you recommend doing one or two FE's?

Only 59 more days!!

With the FE gifts, this is what we do: we give an FE gift for each cabin except if a family has two or more cabins we only give an FE gift to the family and not to each cabin (unless there are grandparents in one of the cabins we would give an FE gift to them as well). Hope this helps! :)

Hmorale & I were thinking about putting together an ornament exchange. We did this on our 2010 cruise and it was a lot of fun. You can bring an ornament representing your town/part of the country, Santa, Disney or whatever! We all chose numbers, picked a package & had a great time! Any takers?:)

We would like to participate in the ornament exchange as well! :)

:cheer2:
We would like to participate in the ornament exchange as well! :)

Awesome, more people in for an ornament exchange!

This is who I have so far:

Skypixy (me)
Hmorale
dfsc
Zyla2000
Brooklyn
Brooklyn DD
grlzmom
grlzmom DD21
sinnika
MJDisFamCruisers
MJDisFamCruisers DD
KimWhitt93
skypixy's mom
theeighthdwarf's (Lauri) MIL Debbie
rsschneck
schnerk
schnerk II
schnerk's parents
kidz dream
hotchpot

Please bring a wrapped ornament (in the $10-$15 range) to our fun exchange! You may want to bring an ornament that represents your part of the country, Disney, nautical, tropical or just something pretty. Hand crafted/home made ornaments will be accepted & admired! We will pick numbers from a hat & choose the ornaments, then meet the person that brought it! A great way to get to know other Disers. I will bring nametags. Day/time/location: TBA

This is going to be so fun~

If anyone has Galveston questions, I may be of help. We live about 30 minutes from Galveston & have cruised out of the port several times. We also were on the first Disney cruise out of the port too..

Monica, do you know if there the port of Galveston has someone like Shirley in PC?:confused3 I would love to order some special gifts for our staterooms (non-DCL)
like I did from The Perfect Gift on our last cruise.
It was so special to have the boys names on each bucket & gifts already in the stateroom when we arrived.
Thanks for any info!

Please add us to the ornament exchange. Will you be sending out something with all the names and rooms prior to the cruise?

Not that I'm aware of...I can do some investigating.

We are cruising back to back on the 12/21 and 12/29 cruises. We do have to pack our bags and debark and re-embark the ship on the 29th. Is there a place near the port to ship items home that we might have purchased during the first cruise and don't want to haul around during the second cruise? Is there anything to do near the port while we are waiting in between cruises?
