Whilst the last few weeks havent been great for me on a personal note, the worse had to be watching my daughter Vicki walking out of college a few weeks back clutching her results after 3 years and an extra year of doing a Foundation Diploma, (which she passed I must add,) but with her shoulders and head so low as she achieved a "Pass" when she needed a "Merit" to secure her much wanted place at Uni, made worse by most of her friends only needing a pass and all but her securing a place.
She thought she had done enough to get the grade she needed, working really hard at the same time as trying to hold down two part time jobs to keep her little banger on the road, but it was not to be and she had the stuffing well and truly knocked out of her, and felt as though the last 3 years had been wasted.
After speaking to the Uni, many tears and weighing up all the options, such as waiting until clearing, taking a year out, getting a job, doing a different degree, she went into college and they agreed to send a letter on her behalf to the Uni to see if it would help.
Then last week, another blow, as she had a letter from UCAS to say that as she hadnt accepted the place offered (she had) and had proof, the original place was now no longer availible, we were then told by the Uni that it was now definatley down to clearing, but to send in a copy of her acceptence letter and they would look into the error.
So onto today, long winded I know
but out of the blue, Vic gets a phone call from the Uni to say that they now have her acceptence letter and after reviewing her results, her term work and the letter from college they are now pleased to offer her an unconditional place on the course that she so wanted to do.
To say she is happy is an under statement, she wanted this so badly and Im so so glad she didnt give up and kept seeing if there was anything at all she could do to get in. Well done Vic, Im over the moon for her
Thanks for listening to me ramble on
