A little observation and a nosey question...

We got married last oct..we are in our early 30's and we have one 12 year old son.
We have been together more than 13 years..didn't want the traditional wedding and we LOVED disney-naturally it was the only choice for us!
We had 16 people at our wedding.

When we hit the aisle in November I'll be 29 and 2 days and my DH2B will be 27. I wanted to get married when I was 28 but we were forced to our ceremony date by the fact that if we fly out to FL any earlier the flights are £200 extra for each person and we don't want to have the ceremony any sooner in our holiday or our family will be around for too long once we've started our honeymoon! It's complcated but I get it!

Don't ask me about the 28 thing - I had this thought that if I get married when i'm 29 people will say - oh you just don't want to be doing it when you're thirty!

It'll be the two of us plus my parents and brother and his parents, brother and girlfriend. They're joining us for two weeks, the first 6 nights we'll be sleeping in their villa then we head off to the AKL. Then on the day they fly home we're moving to the radisson maingate for our 7 night honeymoon.

Why disney for our wedding? We don't want a church or a big fuss, or the politics of who to invite - and I've always secretly dreamed of being a real princess for a day.

Why disney for our honeymoon? Where else would you go?!?!?!?!?!

When we get home we're gonna have a party - if we ever get round to organising it - for our family and friends, probably 100 people...

:0)

I was 35 and my first marriage. Rick was 43 and it was his 2nd marriage. I was never in a rush to get married and it took kissing a few frogs to find my prince charming.

Great Questions! I love to hear everyones stories...

We got married this past September the 18th. I was 31 and my new husband was 4 days away from turning 33. This was a first marriage for both of us. We had 142 guests attending and most of them stayed for the full week with us. It was a blast to hang out with all of our family and friends at our most favorite place in the world.

FDH is 24 and I am 23 and we are getting married this year. This is our first wedding and can't wait for the Disney Vow renewal down the line. We have been dating for 6 years and he proposed to me on a private Illuminations cruise Oct 25 of last year. We LOVE Disneyworld. We both grew up in the south and always vacationed at Disneyworld and it holds a special place deep in our hearts. We are both Disney fanatic's and can never grow tired of it. Having our Fairytale wedding at Disneyworld is a dream come true. We could think of no other place to have it. My family, sadly to say cannot afford our fairytale wedding so we are paying for it ourselves. We have gotten our share of comments like "why Disney? It's SOOO expensive! Oh is Goofy your bestman?" You DISer's on here know!! and we still can't be shaken from our dream wedding. Yes for the amount we are paying we could put a down on a house. But this is our day. The day where we become one. This is that milestone in life that can't be overlooked. We are making our own fairytale story for our kids and grandkids. And last but not least, it's not what you have at the end of your journey, it 's how you got there :moped: . We have about 40 people lined up to be at the wedding. Some taking mini vacations and some just staying a day or 2.

And that's our story.

Honeibee -
I didn't get married at Disney :sad2: though we now wish we had, but my question to you is - are you getting married at Wilderness Lodge? And if so, when and where? We will be there June 7 - 11 and I would love to see a beautiful bride walking around that day! If I know you're getting married there I can keep an eye out!

Well...I am 38 and DF is 42. Neither of us has ever been married before.

Way back when he and I had just met (and I wasn't quite sure I liked him THAT much! LOL!), he mentioned the Fairy Tale wedding...I thought there was no way I could ever do that because it would have to be too expensive!!

Here we are 3 years later and we can't wait for our Fairy Tale wedding on September 19! It will be just us two because my family lives too far away and DF is an only child and both his parents passed away years ago. Besides, we've never really been anywhere together so this was just too perfect for two very overgrown children (me and him! LOL!).

I thought the cost was reasonable...after doing some research and discovering that the average wedding (anywhere!) costs about $10k-$15k (or more) and then you still have to do all the coordinating!!! With our Disney Intimate, I'm paying about half that, don't have to stress about the planning (unless I want to) and get a honeymoom included!!! It's actually SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than a "regular" wedding, if you ask me!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL US 2005 BRIDES...

Hi, hopeful Vow Renewal bride here....

Every couple has different priorities and different visions of their day, but I agree that Disney weddings offer a LOT for their price tag. They are relatively stress-free, very likely high calibur (after all, Disney is in the entertainment, food and hospitality industry), and all professionally coordinated. If you did this in your hometown, a typical planning experience would include searching for, interviewing, selecting and coordinating all the vendor issues yourself, in addition to your job or school. That's a second full-time job, in my opinion. YUCK.

Just wanted to add my two cents just in case there are any ladies out there lurking for information on their Fairy Tale day! It's really easy to get scared by thinking it's so expensive. Weddings are expensive, no doubt, but you may be surprised at how much you get when you look at the cost in terms of stress and time. Of course, the main deterrent for many is probably the guest factor, and how many could make it out there for a destination wedding. I'm just guessing though, as I was not a Disney bride.

Good luck to all!!!!!! :wave2: :cheer2:

Hi,

I am brand new to the boards, got engaged on April 9th! This will be my first marriage, and his 2nd (he is also 44). We don't have any children, but we just love disney world, and both agreed that is where we want to get married.

We met with a SM in November and got to see the Wedding Pavillion, and that was it! We will be having an Intimate Wedding, early next year. There are people that act like I have two heads when I tell them that is where we are getting married, but I feel like, hey, I've waited a long time for this, it has happened much later in life than I imagined it would, but we are so happy and refuse to let anyone take that away. Congratulations to you, and all others on the board, I will be writing back with many, many questions!!

THIS IS AWESOME!! :goodvibes Congratulations and many blessings to you and hubby to be!

My DH and I celebrate 14 years next month and sometimes I still can't believe it! We're only 35 soon to be 36 in July and I'm amazed that I've been with the same man for 17 years and married to him for 14! :bride: :love2: :groom:

We will be down that weekend to celebrate our 1 year anniversary! We were married this past September the 18th! What are the details of your imtimate, I would LOVE to be able to see a wedding when we are there for our 1 year and wish you well.

Hi jennycee

We are getting married at Sunset Point at 9 am on Tuesday Sept. 20...

There will be no one there for us to have cake and champagne with (consider this an invite if you can/want to stop by! :) )

DF is wearing a hawaiian print shirt, and I'm going to get a dress in a very similar fabric...I'm hoping somehow I can get one of those polynesian floral headpieces to wear.

I guess that's about it...How long after you confirmed your dates and stuff did it take for your to get that first packet of info? We confirmed and everything about 10 days ago (paid the deposit and everything) and I haven't received my planning package yet...I'm just SOOO excited!!!!!!

Hi,

Thank you so much.

Happy anniversary to you and your hubby. Wishing you both many many more years of continued love and happiness. :sunny:

What day(s) in July will you turn 36? I'm turning 45 on July 14th.

First of all, congratulations! And the WL is one of my faves too. We stayed there 10 years ago on our Honeymoom.

Alas, I am also not a "young" Disney bride! (Well renewal bride).

I'm turning 40 June 10 (which I will spend at the magical land of Disney to forget it).

My husband and I of 10 years are hosting our vow renewal ceremony on December 16 at WDW. We want to recommit our love and devotion to each other in front our family and friends and most importantly to each other. We are very excited and almost as nervous as the first time - because it's a whole new world for us.

To answer your questions... I'm 40. My marriage to my DH was not my first marriage (although he has been my friend for 25 years and he did attend my first wedding). We are having guests - less than 20 that are mostly family and close friends. We chose a Disney wedding because it is a magical place and we love it.

When were were married 10 years ago, not everything was done exactly as we wanted it because our parents pitched in (money and advice) and we tried to make everyone happy. This time the ceremony is for us and about us.

I hope you and your DF have a Magical Day! Lisa

Hi there... I am 26 and my fiance is 40. It is his 2nd marriage and he has 2 sons, this will be my first marriage. We chose Disney because I am the BIGGEST mickey mouse fan and couldn't imagine getting married any where else. We have about 60 people being invited and we expect about 50 of those people to attend. Basically we invited our immediate family and 4 other families that are good friends of ours. I am so excited to start planning our wedding. We are getting married May 18th 2006 and I just can't wait! Good luck to you and enjoy your wedding!

I am 27 and my DH is 28 (but was also 27 at the time of the wedding). This is our first (and hopefully last!) wedding, and we did have guests, immediate family only. If it was up to me at the beginning, it would have just been the two of us, but I am glad the my DH convinced me otherwise. It was ourselves, both sets of parents, his sister, my sister and her three girls.
Everyone who went stayed for vacation and we made sure to only spend a bit of time with family after the wedding day (after all, it was our honeymoon!). It worked out nicely. We met up with the in-laws for lunch at 50s one day and the Candlelight Processional on our last night.
I chose a Disney wedding because I always wanted to get married at WDW. We did not want a big wedding, and we knew if we did have any kind of wedding in New Orleans or Baton Rouge, it would have been $$$ for something we didn't even want. Neither of us are ones for the spotlight and I find so many of my friends who have large weddings just seem to stress and not enjoy the day. But Disney makes is so easy and everything is tastefully done. If I could do it again, I wouldn't have done anything differently when it came to our wedding choice.

Hi! I think it's great you've decided on a Disney Wedding. My boyfriend and I are 32 and 31 respectively and we are getting married in May '06 (details aren't set yet but I have an idea of what I want!). We are going to have an Intimate Wedding with only family and close friends; about 13 guests plus us.

The reason we chose Disney is two-fold. One, we live in NY where, like most other places, weddings can cost a fortune. He and I are very private people who decided we did not want to spend our Wedding Day worrying that our 100+ guests are having a good time (may sound a bit selfish but we only hope to get married once!). So we decided that since we both love Disney, we'd like to get married there, spend the next day in the parks with our family/friends and then be where we want to be for the rest of our honeymoon. Besides, how cool will it be that our kids will be able to say Mommy and Daddy were married at Mickey's House! lol

Anyway, that's my story. I wish you bot the best of luck with everything and a lot of love and happiness.
