A little manners during judging - too much to ask?

Hi All,

With some rides left to be judged, I just thought I would put this out there so hopefully someone else can benefit from my sharing the rudeness that I received from a fellow player (and sad to say, a fellow DIS member who I will not name).

We all worked very hard on our rides. Some may look incredible, other more simple. However, to our own abilities, we each set time aside and put a lot of effort into building our rides.

Then there is the hope that you might be in your room when a HOST pops in to judge it. You get maybe 2 minutes to showcase your hard work and creativity.

Friday night many friends were hanging in my ride room. Thanks all! That was fun. When suddenly, HOST_Lily appears in the doorway. Cool! My 2 minutes!!!

For those of you who have not seen my ride, it is a race with a double track. I asked Lily if she wanted to race. We did. Others hopped on too. Great! Wonderful!

Then, this particular person who clearly had also had built a ride and happened to be in my room when Lily came in started questioning Lily about prizes DURING OUR RIDE TOGETHER as well as after when we landed back in my start room - even as Lily was talking to me.

When Lily did not respond, this person continued.

And - as I tried to talk to Lily and politely ignore this person, he just continued to push his question on Lily.

And - continued...

Did Lily even get to read my "i" button information? Was she able to focus on the room and the ride - not just want to get away from all the questioning? Was she just searching for the exit so she could escape more grilling? I have no idea. But I do know that my few minutes to show off my work were rude interupted by a fellow DIS player who just HAD to know if everyone was getting a prize.

And yes, I know, I know - it hit me later - This would have been the time to lace up those nice shiny BOOTs of mine. Wish I would have thought of that when I would screaming at my computer screen - "Please leave Lily alone! Ask questions during your own time."

Hopefully, Lily was able to enjoy the ride - despite the interuptions. I will never really know.

PLEASE people - be a little respectful of your fellow players, their hard work, and their desire to have a chance to show their work to the judges, just as you wanted to do.

Aww, I feel your pain. I was sitting in my room yesterday (before Lily told me I would be judged today), and a DIS member came in (I'm not sure - maybe it was the same person), and started telling me how my ride was terrible. I'm sure they said those hurtful things about my ride just to make me feel bad and make me think I would lose. But hey - when I went to look at their ride, if I was a judge, I would say it was worse than mine. I spent a lot of time getting some of the items to put in my room (like some of the ebay stuff and the green rocket in my start room), and it made me feel bad when the person came back from riding my ride for the first time and said something along the lines of: "You won't win best theme for that", "There's no color that would make it win", "Best ride experience? Hah. My grand.mummy could make a longer ride than you", and "This is not creative at all". :sad2:

Aww, i'm so sorry :(, I can pretend to be a judge and come to your room if you want :teeth:

I am so sorry that this person had to ruin it for you. They should really feel bad for doing something like that and being disrespectful not only towards you, but your ride and most likely Lily herself as well. I am sure Lily still enjoyed it even if that person was being bothersome. Just keep your head up and think more about the good thoughts and your room getting judged :) :thumbsup2 Hopefully Lily ignored that person that was being rude and she did not get bothered.

When you told me about this yesterday I could not beleive it... well I could, but I am just so sad for you....

I am glad you posted about it. It was very RUDE and and SELFFISH of that person to do that... AND to follow in the ride and continue to question her...

Well... I al totally speachless.

(((((((((((((((((((Hugs))))))))))))))))))))

Sorry this happened to you but I have yet to have a host in my room where other guests DON'T barge in. I know of several cases where hosts just left before a room owner could finish asking their own questions about a room design or even the courtesy of welcoming the host. Hopefully, it is a case of thoughtlessness rather than being mean. Thanks for bringing it to everyone's attention.

Hugs Jegrezo  Yes, it was very rude indeed. I watched as Lily did her best to ignore this person -- I only hope she did use the ignore button. ;)

Yup, I Had A Person asking how to become staff.. -_- But she said my ride was good and she said gg so im happy. Very sorry for this. i would really like to know the dis member who did this. Who ever you are, that wasnt nice. At all.

Shadow? Your ride ownz girl. Poop On them :) :p ;) :goodvibes

How did you find out what day you would be judged? I'm still waiting for a judge and I know many are. We would all feel so much better if we knew for sure we have not been left out. :guilty: I'm a hundred percent certain I registered correctly.

Hula came to my room to let me know I registered okay, since she heard I was worried about it (can't imagine how :rolleyes1 ) and someone in my room kept asking when the Red Space Suit would be out. I just ignored them though, not ignore button but didn't pay attention to them, since they're just a kid who's a little... over eager.

How did she find this out? I would like to know as well.

Well I can't be sure since she didn't say, but I figure either someone told her I was worried (which is possible since I mentioned it on DIS), she read it in random chat logs, or she herself read it on DIS. I know it wouldn't be the first time she answered a question I had posted on DIS, but on that occasion I had also mentioned my concern in game. So any of those ways is possible.

Sorry about the disrespectful person. But those people can't ruin the game for you :badpc: I bet Lily thought your ride was fun though

Well, if some of my friends remeber correctly, Lily said "Shabbat" right as I left monkey bug's Space Race. Yesterday, I saw Lily again and asked why she said my name. It wasn't about the competition, but she said she saw the word "bat" in my name, LOL. Then since I was complaining so much about not being judged , she told me not to wait today (yesterday) or something like that, so I didn't hang out in my Space Race anymore and apparently Lily was right because I am still waiting to be judged. :)

A friend had a similar experience and was very upset. I told her not to let it bother her the staff are used to it. Unfortunatly They have their hands full with so many rides they will have enough trouble completing the judgeing let alone reading everything.

So sorry to hear that. I have witnessed that all too often in previous events where I gladly would love to use the boot but I was to kind. But delete worked well after I sent a kind little note to advise the person of what they did wrong and the impression it left on me.

Nothing like a person trying to be the focus of attention in your room. Sorry to hear about that.

I too am sorry that your "minute" was hi-jacked. It is difficult enough to spend the entire day in your room waiting for a visit then to have it disrupted.
I am sorry to admit that I keep my finger near the boot button when I see my room fill up with staff stalkers. Sad to say they are mostly CL's who have never bothered to visit my rooms before. I think staff should consider this when looking at their friends lists. :confused3

OK rant over.

(Jewel I hope you get visited soon) :cheer2:

well, for me... i am not so kind, they would have been booted immediately for behavior like that, friend or not. My tolerance for these totally oblivious people has been stretched to the limit. From the late middle aged woman who make a left hand turn fin the right hand lane in front of people (she does this EVERY DAY!!) to checkout line cutters (they only have one item, but hey, SO DO I!) to extremely rude people on VMK, people with no respect, no courtesy, and a downright TOTALLY selfish attitude. So, yes, I cannot boot the checkout cutter or the left turn right lane bimbo, but I sure as heck can boot the ignoramus from my room.

I think the staff should come in disguise to judge the rooms
1) They won't be pestered with questions
2) They can see how you really interact with guests to your ride.
