A little input from AP holders

In August of 2007 we have a split reservations to WDW: 7 nights at CSR + 3 nights at LVC Poly with a 10 day ticket.

We would like to add either a Christmas stay or another summer stay in 2008 (staying within the one year time frame).

We are trying to determine if it is a good plan to purchase AP tickets. I have read a lot of posts trying to figure out if it is worth it for us but am wondering if someone would be willing to post the type of discount they got this year with an AP discount.

I undertand it is not an absolute that discounts will be offered - we are actually looking at purchasing the APs because of the number of days involved with 2 trips.

However, if someone who stayed at either the CSR or the Poly would be willing to share what they got for a nightly rate or what their discount was this year I would really appreciate it.

Thanks much!
Jen

When AP rates are available, we continue to save around $100/night on our ressie. Our biggest savings have always been around Christmas, when we are able to check-in at the very end of off-season rates and stay through the holiday.

Purchasing the DDE card has provided enormous savings to us, too.

you will save a little just on the fact that you wont need to buy someone park tickets for the 2nd trip.

keep looking, it;s been detailed numerous times on this board how much you can save.

personally, I save a total of $1,000 - $1,600 on my 2 trips a year because of my AP.

I was thinking the same as you....buy the APs based on the amount of days making up two separate trips. They are worth it for that. HOWEVER, I have been unable to take advantage of ANY savings as far as resorts go...and I'm going during two different Value Seasons (Nov/Dec and again in February...I'm also going again in Oct '07 but it's too far away for AP discounts. And it's Regular Season). I can tell you, I was quite :furious: when I realized the AP wasn't going to pay off with the resort. I feel like I've been ripped off really. My only consolation...I am getting a AAA discount fo the Nov/Dec trip at the WL. My Feb. trip we're staying Club Level at WL and there's no discount available for that. Not even AAA. And for the Oct '07 (Regular Season) trip, I'm getting the AAA discount again. I thought the AP discount was a sure thing when going during Value Season. I definitely thought WRONG. We're only saving $348 with the AAA discount in Nov/Dec. It could have been as high as $927 with the AP (based on a 40% discount). Just :furious: !!

Feb 2007 AP discounts are due to be announced any day now. I book my jan-feb-mar trip based on when the AP discount is released. Wanting to go jan 27 - feb 3rd this year. Just waiting for the codes.

Last 3 years we went to WL in april04, feb 05, and jan 06 and had courtyard view room at WL for $199 a night x 6 nights. Rack rate is $329.

I save about $1500 on each AP I buy. I am able to get 2 trips on each every time. You have to be flexable in your travel dates.

If you are somewhat flexible (i.e. not dead set on Wilderness Lodge Standard Rooms at Thanksgiving!) and plan to spend more that 10 days at Disney during the year, then APs are a MUST! We got APs for the first time this year and will have used about 30 days in the parks before they expire. I managed to get an AP room discount for every visit except our June visit. The discount on rooms is as much as 50%.

Does anyone have any experience on AP rates around the first week in May? I am looking at possibly May 2-6- just a quick trip for me and mom. DBF and I are going this Nov 28-Dec 4 with 7 day passes, but i am thinking maybe an AP would save me some money all around. Any suggestions/ideas?

Yes, I've seen that percentage quoted on mousesavers, and normally that's your biggest savings. But I booked Dec 20-24 using the AP rates, the first night at the Poly and next three at Boardwalk Inn. The AP total was $1064. The rack rate for the same room types and dates was $2164. That's a 51% savings. For whatever reason, the AP rate through 12/23 is a percentage of the value rack rate, even though value season ends 12/19. So it represents a huge cut from the holiday rack rate. Sounds confusing, but you if you have access to the AP site, you can compare some rates for 12/20 on and you'll see what I mean. But don't look for this discount at Wilderness Lodge - it's just too popular and sold out way ahead of time.
