My brother just found out his wife has terminal cancer and is driving her down to Kissimee for a last minute trip. They are big Disney fans, too, but don't have alot of money after her years of battling her cancer. I am going to pay for at least one day at MK, if she feels up to it.
She is on oxygen and probably won't be able to walk much. I know there is a ton of info here but since this is so last minute I need a little help from my friends here. Anything I should be thinking of as far as her needs? She has a drainage port in her chest that may need draining, can they go to the first aid for a clean private area for this? Any suggestions?
Can someone give me a name and cost of scooter rental that can fit in their car or be delivered? I need to have something that is as simple as possible for them, they have been through alot.
Thank you in advance for any help.

Yes you can use first aid there are privet room not sure how clean but if you talk to a nurse I am sure they can let you know or wipe things down for you or you can at the top of this page is a list of schooler that you can rent

First aid is definitely where they can go for a private area to drain the port. They can also keep any medicine that needs to be kept chilled there.

I hope they have a wonderful time and get to enjoy it together one last time.

Scooter size is dependent on body weight. If she can get by with a smaller portable travel scooter then they come apart in 4 or 5 pieces depending on the model. You can do u-tube to see how they come apart. The smaller ones weigh between 105 and 120 pounds including the battery. The smaller ones fit most cars.

You can use the scooter basket for a smaller oxygen tank, but those tanks only last for 3 or 4 hours. Make sure you have bungi cords to secure the oxygen tank to the scooter basket. Then, you need to get another tank after 3 hours. I'm not sure first aid will let you keep oxygen tanks there. You can inquire if there is an oxygen tank holder you can get with a scooter to hold a bigger oxygen tank. If you use the portable oxygen concentrator they won't last all day either. Then, an oxygen tank will be needed for part of the day, too.

Keep in mind outside vendors on scooters may have a three day minimum on renting scooters.

You may want to opt for a portable travel wheelchair instead of a scooter. There are oxygen tank holders available for wheelchairs. This would be easier on the wife. She wouldn't have to be concerned about the crowds at the park stepping out in front of her that way. It's taxing to get through ride queues because there is a lot of zig zagging through the line. Wheelchairs can go on some rides where the scooter can not.

First Aide has private rooms with a counter and a sink, which would be as clean as any exam room in a doctor's office. There is a welcome desk; just tell them what you need to do so they can assign an appropriate room.

Rather than an ECV, in this situation, I would suggest a wheelchair.
Driving an ECV requires a lot of attention at all times and can be exhausting because of the concentration and attention. Drivers need to be constantly on the alert for people darting out in their path without warning. There are some attractions that an ECV can be driven onto, but again - concentration is needed to drive on and off. There are also attractions that have a wheelchair accessible ride car, but it is not ECV accessible. If she uses an ECV, she would need to transfer - which would take a toll on her energy.

Thanks you all sooo much! These are exactly the issues I never would have thought of. It sounds like a wheelchair may be best. Obviously, she is very overwhelmed and having to navigate the crowds on the scooter might just be too much for her. They are in Florida now. Do any of you have suggestions on where to find wheelchair rentals? She might need something that is slightly larger than the standard wheelchair. Do they have something like that? I can't tell you all how much I appreciate you. I am battling a serious illness right now but I really want to help them. I knew I could count on everyone here, you are the best!
Maybe off topic but....I want to pay for theit tickets. If I order them for will call, is there a wait time between ordering and picking them up?

Follow the link in my signature to the disABILITIES FAQs thread. Look in post 2 of that thread and you will find wheelchair rental information. It includes information about renting in the parks and also from offsite companies (including websites).
Larger width wheelchairs are available.

If they rent from an off-site company, they will have it to use wherever they go.

The wheel chair at the park are the large ones for the most part
