Hi all!

DH and I returned home from our 10 days at WDW yesterday (feels great to be home!). Didn't rain a drop at all while there, a little too warm in the day, perfect at night. Crowds were uncomfortable for us from 10/15-10/20, but after that crowds seemed to thin out.

I was looking forward to possibly meeting a fellow DISer while there, and I thought I had a pretty good chance since so many were going when we were. Alas, I didn't meet any of you. I even wore an official DIS fanny pack, and I looked for any other lime green hints on people. No luck. I still met some very nice people there, including some from UK and Germany.

Dh and I rode MS right after eating in Mexico, unfortunately. We love thrill rides: the Hulk at IOA, RnR at MGM. But this ride left us feeling unwell--bellies full of Mexican grub and G forces do not mix. We did it once and that was enough. The interactivity and realistic feeling in this ride made it POTENTIALLY great for us.

Stayed at the Wyndham Palace across from DTD for the second time. Disappointed this time. Our first room was the opposite of "palace". The vent in the bathroom rattled loudly, three huge holes in a wall had been patched up poorly, carpet coming up everywhere in our room, paint missing in many places, and to top it all off. . the word "fan" was scribbled messily above its corresponding switch. And this was supposed to be a "preferred deluxe room on the 20th floor! We switched rooms. "Palace" life isn't as grand as I thought it would be.

Philharmagic, Wishes, and Fantasmic were spectacular. I have no desire to see another New Year's Eve or Fourth of July fire works display again after experiencing Wishes. It's simply the best.

Glad your trip was fun overall.:p I can't wait to see Wishes next time we go! So far everone has given it great reviews.

Thank you for your report!!:teeth:

Did you have a problem finding a seat for Fantasmic? I don't want to do the dinner package and am just wondering how early I should get a seat. Do they let you in the theater at anytime or do they hold you at the gate until say one hour before the show? Thanks.

Aesalsa,
This is exactly how I felt after seeing the MK fireworks! I have not seen wishes yet, but I don't understand how our city can spend millions of dollars on the fourth of July fireworks ONCE a year and they not be half as good as what WDW displays almost NIGHTLY!
After seeing the MK fireworks, we will never line up on the side of the highway again!

Glad you had a good trip and why was it so crowded?

It's scary how inconsistent hotel quality can be, even when you choose the top names in the industry. I would be disappointed also.

1) I think it was so crowded because of a few factors: a) Some states had a 2-week school vacation which I think started 10/6.
b) Many new attractions opening in Oct. c) Food and Wine Fest at Epcot.

2)Fantasmic: We did not buy the dinner package, but we did get there about an hour and a half early and had great seats. We sat dead center at the bottom--great view. There were already a lot of people there. But it seems to me that all of the seats provided a good view. Still, I am glad to have sat at the bottom so we could see the characters close-up. They start seating early. The CMs start seating people from the center and work outward. You should be fine if you get there AT LEAST an hour before show time.

Sound's like you pretty much had a great trip! Sorry you had a junkie room though! Thank's for the report on wishes I cant wait to see it!:Pinkbounc

Did you get to change your room? Doesn't sound very "appetitizing".

Thanks for sharing all your details with us!

First of all, I'd like you all to know that, IMO, Wishes is better than Fantasy. If you thought Fantasy was amazing, Wishes is that times 100! My husband isn't the fireworks type. He was tired when we got to MK that evening to see Spectro and Wishes. But after Wishes was over he said, "That was so awesome. That was great. It's worth a day's admission to MK just to see that show!" And I agree. It literally brought a tear to my eye with the soundtrack of the characters, music, etc., and I'm not the kind of person who tears up easily. We saw it 2 times and taped it the second. I don't usually like doing this since I don't usually like watching things like that on TV. But Wishes is so good that I've already watched it twice since I've been home (got home Sat.) My little bro and sis even thought it was magical, and they have never been to WDW, and they don't usually like watching that kind of stuff on TV.

Second, we did switch rooms, no questions asked. It seemed a bit smaller, 2 queens, but it was in much better shape. Did I mention that in the previous room that "FAN" was written in Sharpie!!!! Our honeymoon last year at the Wyndham Palace was so great (we were upgraded to a suite). After this experience, we won't stay there again. I hope my experience there is an isolated one and that noone else who stays there shares my misfortune.

Sorry you were disappointed in your first room at the Wyndham. I take it that they moved you to a better room?

I'm looking forward to seeing WISHES, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I am very nervous about getting sick on MS - but I at least have to try it once. Sorry your hotel wasn't great but it sounds like it didn't damper your fun too much

I am a fireworks junkie so I am so excited to hear you say it is that great

thanks for posting!
