A little disappointed with supervision

My girlfriend and I spent Saturday night [11/25] at Dixie Landings or Riverside as the conformists would say. When we checked in all seemed well until we drove around to our room. When we exited my vehicle we were confronted by a large group of High School aged girls talking like sailors and seeming to be drunk. Keep in mind, I spent 4 years in the Marine Corps, these girls would have embarrassed most of the Marines I was stationed with. The girls were there for a soccer tournament but had a very apparent lack of supervision. One elderly man seemed to be responsible for most or all of the girls. It should be mentioned that he got out of the van he was driving the girls around in some what inebriated. We then saw the same elderly man at the food court carrying out beers in a bag [most likely for his travel companions] again stumbling across the floor some what drunk.

I would mention that this was all reported to the front desk and Disney was more than happy to change our room, however the room we received after the complaint did not have any view and was next to an elevator. Anyone that has ever stayed at Disney knows that if you like to sleep in, do not take a room by an elevator. We had no choice, had to take the room and again were barraged with verbal obscenities at breakfast by the girl’s soccer team. It appears that Disney no longer respects the family environment and I have to admit, I am very disappointed. It also seems that Disney was punishing us for reporting the situation.

Is it just me or has Disney really gone down hill over the past few years? Customer service is terrible in some cases or simply non-existent.

wow, thats too bad, what would have liked Disney to do about the girls? Was threr any parents with them at breakfast? Did you say anything to them yourself?

I don't believe POR / Dixie Landings has elevators. Troll?

I am sorry that you had this experience on your vacation. However, it isn't Disney's fault that these children were not supervised, it was the fault of the group that they were with. If it were me, I would have been very upset that my DD would have to witness such behaviour. I would probably inquire what group they were with and send an email to that group / organization.

I'm sorry that POR was not able to provide you with a better alternative but looking at the date of your stay I'm sure the resort was full to the brim.

I hope your next stay on WDW property is better.

Only Alligator Bayou is elevator-less. :smooth:

No, I don't think that Disney has gone down hill...I mean, how can you blame Disney for the way the girls acted? What would you have wanted Disney to do to correct the situation? Blame the girls or the group's lack of chaperoning.

Yea that really does suck. Unsupervised teenagers can get out of hand sometimes, and its no fun to be witness to that.

I'm pretty sure that Disney has some requirement for chaperones/adults in hotel rooms. Im not positive, but I believe at least one person in the room must be 18 or older. So, like I'm not really sure what Disney could've done to rectify the situation besides the course of action they took. I mean they tried to oblige your request as best they could at the last second. i really don't see how disney was punishing you.

But the situation was awful anyways, and im sorry that you had to experience it. I hope everything works out for you better next time.

It's amazing how kids mouths are so foul these days. They have no clue and aren't aware of others, such as younger kids. They'll be shocked in the future though when they can't hold jobs b/c they cuzz too much.

That stinks. I'm sorry it happened on your trip. I'm not sure what WDW could have done, though. I guess they could have talked to the group, but I'm not sure that would have done any good. Did the resort try to do anything about the situation? If the resort tried to do something (even if they just talked to the group), I would have felt a lot better about the situation. (Well, I might not have felt better but I would have let it go.)

I played Paintball for several years at WWos 2 times a year. After the first time traveling with these kids I insisted that we stay off-sight . The way they acted was no way for kids expecting a magical time to have to witness what this team was doing.

I do know if things get out of hand and it's reported to the league that they do get banned from play for 1 year or more.

Some parents just seem to busy to be parents and the kids end up suffering for it by not having any respect for themselves or others.
