Hello
I will be arriving Dec 31st at OKW
This trip I will have my 7 year old grand-daughter with me. I am thinking she will be tired after our travels but still want to ring in the New Year.
Will there be any type of resort celebration or what about going to DTD for a few hours? I was thinking of maybe a movie but am not sure if AMC theaters are open that evening? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Edited to add we will not be arriving till 8pm that evening.

We've stayed at OKW on several NYE trips, and frankly, it never occured to me to celebrate it at the resrot!;) Our favorite spot is Epcot! They do the New Year right!:thumbsup2 You get to celebrate with each country when it's midnight in their location, and then midnight over World Showcase Lagoon is spectacular!:thumbsup2

My only concern about going to one of the Theme Parks is that we don't arrive at the resort until 8pm,,,,I've heard that the parks are VERY busy and we may not get in.?

That's true, and if you got to Epcot that late, you would miss the NYE celebration in most of the European countries.

We've done DHS twice on NYE and had a blast. We arrived later and it wasn't impossible to find a spot to celebrate or to get into the park. Plus they have the special fireworks on NYE that you don't get the rest of the year.

I guess I was hoping someone knew if they still do they daily activity sheet at the resort for Dec 31--like movie by the pool, campfire with smores.
I'm just not sure heading out to one of the parks that late in the evening is a great idea for us,,but maybe.
I also found out that the AMC theater is open Dec 31 for business and
La Nouba has a 9pm show. Also maybe sharing a Sparkling Volcano
at Rain Forrest Cafe might also be a nice way to celebrate the New Year.
I will be packing noise makers, hats, glow sticks and necklaces.
I've never seen the New Years Eve fireworks at DHS so that could be fun.
I'd just hate to plan and then have things change due to crowd volume.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and ideas.

IF you can get to the Boardwalk, there's a party going on there, and it's fun. This past NYE they did have the Illuminations music piped in for the fireworks. However, DH and I wanted to see the fireworks from the park and at only 11:20 we walked over to Epcot, they were letting people in, and we walked to the bridge on the right, and stayed there! The fireworks begin around 11:40, wiith some greetings in each of the languages and a smallish fireworks display over the different countries, and then BAM, it's midnight!

As we walked back to the Boardwalk, the party was still going on. If you just wanted to stay at the party on the Village green, that would be possible and fun. Getting back to OKW would involve at least lots of traffic, maybe a taxi to let someone else do the driving.

Ok I just rechecked with the airline and it seems we are not getting to the Orlando airport until 8 pm which means getting to the resort for around 9PM.
I'm going to go with trying to get a reservation for a late dinner in Downtown Disney and am planning a little surprise bag to be given to granddaughter VIA
the front desk. (have to be quick and a bit sneaky to pull this off ). Her mom and Dad tell me she just isn't going to make it past 11:00pm.
Thanks for everyone's help.

Here's what i have so far

When in Disney sometimes you have to make your own " Magic"
