I promised I'd post one....

I have a new sweater that needs to be hand-washed. Now, I know how to hand wash something basically (Bucket+Water+Soap). However, as it's such a nice top I wondered if anyone could give me some advice on how to achieve the best results when I hand-wash it. I'm worried about it losing shape, shrinking or getting covered in clumps of soap powder.

Sorry for the boring question but I knew there would be someone on here who could help!

maybe you bettter take it to the laundry matt

Well, I never use powdered soap when I hand wash because of the soap clumps. I use Woolite. I would also do it in a tub or large sink instead of a bucket so you can "swish it" and not cram it in a bucket so it gets wrinkled.
Then I let sweaters dry on my drying rack overnight (you could also use the back of a chair. I don't hang them on hangers wet because I feel it stretches them out) and then give them a short tumble in the dryer to get out the few wrinkles and soften them up.
Good luck!

I find that I can wash my "hand wash" items in my machine on the gentle cycle with Woolite. I've never had any trouble with ruining my clothing. I then dry it flat. When dry, I'll put it in the dryer on low for about 5 minutes to fluff it up a bit.

If you'd rather wash by hand, then use liquid Woolite in the sink.

I pretty much do the same - although last week I washed a jacket in the washing machine that specifically said to "dry clean only" and then tossed it in the dryer wet, and it came out fine! :flower:

I have a stupid question....Does all washing machines have a gentle cycle?

Thanks guys! I think I might be brave and go for the gentle cycle in the machine :Pinkbounc
