I never shop on Black Friday, ever! Can't stand shopping crowds no matter what the deal...

ACDSNY - Good for you! And anyone else that has a good start on shopping. I'll knock a few off online this weekend but I usually get enough done online that I can finish off the in store stuff in one big evening's push.

Here's to making the Turkey Last....



There are a few items I need. I need a new steam mop. I had one I found at a garage sale a few years ago in LV and it finally bit the dust. I would love to find a gel mat for the kitchen. I see that Big Lots has one for 40.00. Other than getting needs , I am not shopping for anything.

The only downside of having Thanksgiving at my Mom's retirement community is that no one gets to take home leftovers

We usually end up cooking our own turkey a few days later just so we can have turkey sandwiches.

At least you get to spend it with your mom. We are not making a turkey either. We are going out. Our house is a wreck with the move. I did buy a bird to make at some point though. Happy Thanksgiving to you!

That's true Jo! Two of my 4 siblings also drive up so it's always one of our two times together each year.

Are you going to eat turkey when you go out? Or Chinese.....

Going out next year for Thanksgiving sounds good to me. No matter how hard we try to not make too much, we always have so much left over that just sits in the fridge til it gets tossed.
We have gone out for Christmas the last few years.

It is nice to eat out in many ways but we still miss the leftovers (DH is an excellent cook!). We usually end up at my brother's for Christmas Eve and then spend Christmas Day with dear friends in Baltimore so we almost never have our turkey at home anymore.

Visiting Mom with family was very nice and Mom loved it.

Susan, maybe you could try cooking just a turkey breast sometime? We've done that and enjoyed it (far fewer leftovers too!).
