Just thought I'd sum up what I observed during our dinner meals. These two subjects crop up quite often--!!

There were kids in EVERY restaurant except V&A. Fewest at BlueZoo and Pucks upstairs. Most at California Grill, Narcoosee's, FF, then Jiko. I won't even touch the subject of kid behavior, but with the exception of one little "fellow" at Jiko whose parents couldn't (or wouldn't ) keep him from running all around the restaurant, most of the kids were relatively well behaved.

I'd say about 70% of the adults were in "resort/business" casual and about 30% in theme park casual. A fair # of men in business casual had shorts to go with the collared shirt. Sneakers and sandals were not uncommon. Can only recall one group in sportcoats. Most of the ladies attire was shorts/slacks--not many skirts or dresses.

And how--you may be asking--were YOU dressed Uncleromulus??
(Ducklite--are you sitting down??)
I wore tan slacks and a collared Disney shirt, tan loafers. Mrs U wore slacks and a collared Disney shirt (tho once she went with shorts and a collared Disney shirt) and walking sandals.

And as always--no one really seemed to notice (or care) how folks were dressed. It's not something that people should be extremely concerned about. They'll be quite glad to see you no matter how you are dressed!!

thanks, Uncleromulus! help me w/my memory. when dining at V&A jackets for men are required, but what about a tie? my husband does not mind the tie, but soon we will be dining there w/a gentleman who will wear a tie, but prefers not to. thanks for jogging my memory!!

GO ASTROS!!!

The one time we were at V&A, a couple of the men didn't have ties so I think it has become optional. The men did have sports coats on with polo shirts underneath.

IMHO, I wouldn't mind if they enforced a tie dress code, since then the men would also have to be in a nice dress shirt.

Thanks for the observations!! I'm always worried that we may be underdressed for some of the restaurants too!

On our trip in Oct, we dined at Jiko for the first time - we loved it and we'll be back in December!! We also had a "little fellow" sitting by us that would not behave. (And his parents rewarded him with dessert!)

Enjoyed your reviews!

;)

BTW--PM me and let me know the dates of your next trip...

Anne

Right--no tie required.
But I do think at least a dress shirt is in order--even without a tie.

I'd say offhand that 90% of the men have ties--that's a ballpark figure, but I think accurate over the years we're been going.

Thanks for the summary! We like to do one of the nicer restaurants each trip. I am happy to say we have never had any behavior problems at Disney! Although if we were to have a problem, more than likely it would be our little "lady!" She has been taken out of a few restaurants in her three years!

Again, thanks for all your hard work. I'll look forward to your reviews in May. That is our normal time to go, but we are taking the year off because #3 is due in November.

We're just back too and agree with the 70/30 split.

And although we didn't see many dresses or skirts at meals we did see lots of very short skirts at the parks! I know it's in style but how can anyone modestly hop on the rides in those.:earseek:

Maybe they only going to shows?::yes::

Thank you so much, Uncleromulus! As you said, the question of "kids and clothes" at the nicer WDW restaurants comes up quite often on these boards. And I have yet to see anyone address the issue as thoroughly as you do. Your observations are greatly appreciated! :D

Thanks for the report!

On the night we went to V/A's everyone looked pretty spiffy; I think all the men were wearing ties.

Before dinner my husband got dressed in his dress shirt and jacket. We prepared to go.

Me: "I packed you a tie, you know."

Him: "Do I have to wear a tie?"

Me: "No, the dress code is jacket required for men."

Him: "Would you like me to wear a tie?"

Me: "Well, I packed you a tie."

Him: (reaching for tie) "My question has been answered."

ROFL!! Sometimes it just takes them a minute (or two!) to get it, doesn't it!!!
