A June 2011 PTR! (5/31 Top 5 things to do while waiting for Disney!!!)

Love your top 5 Disney rides! Those are all great attractions. KS really is a whole new experience every time you go on it. I think it helps that you have a CM talking to you during the whole ride; you never know where the conversation is going to veer to or how long they'll stop at a particular animal.

And RnRC does build up the anticipation! I think it can be even more exciting for people who have rode it before. When you are sitting there waiting to take off, you keep thinking, "I know what's about to happen...I'm about to shoot forward straight into a loop." It's a wonderful suspense.

Space Mountain can be a little rough, definitely not as smooth as the other Disney coasters. In my opinion, the right side is more jerky than the left side. So, if you want one that's a little smoother and a little tamer, I'd suggest taking the left side. That being said...my DBF and I preferred the right side, because we liked the crazy jerks left and right. :rotfl:

I think you'll love EE! It has the same intensity that RnRC has, just without going upside down.

Can't wait to hear what your top 5 shows are!

Thanks for the tip on Space Mountain. I was always a little reluctant to go on Expedition Everest because of the Yeti  One thing that scares me the most is something jumping out at me. Which is why you will never catch me on dinosaur :lmao: but I watched the youtube video of the ride and it doesn't look that bad and plus I don't thing that the yeti is even working properly right now, so I should be good. :lmao:

I was on oldnavy.com looking for a present for my niece and I came across a pretty good selection of disney t-shirts for girls. I thought I would post them in case anyone was interested. :) I believe that a lot of these are on sale for $7.99.

I loved the "it's all about shoes one". I didn't see the star wars ones, I will have to look (Not that I have anyone to buy them for:rotfl:)

Life Update

I only have 2 weeks of classes left and one week after that for a few finals for school so I am very excited to be wrapping up this semester so I can go into my final year as an undergrad :cool1: I have received some very exciting news that I wanted to share with you guys. This past Saturday I attended the annual dinner for my scholarship society and I received the academic award for the year! It was a complete surprise. Also, I received an e-mail notifying me that I was chosen as the outstanding junior Political Science major this year. I will receive my prize at a ceremony in a couple of weeks. This has been a great week so far. :cloud9: I just had to share. Here is a picture of me with my award from the ball. (The award is clear, so it’s hard to see)

Now on to the business at hand…

TOP 5 Disney Shows

Here are my Top 5 Disney Shows. What are yours?

5.Wishes

Wishes.jpg

Wishes is the show that I have to see at least once when I come to Disney. The only reason it’s not higher up is that I think that I am a bit jaded when it comes to fireworks shows. (I from Louisville, KY and we have Thunder over Louisville every year for the Kentucky Derby, and its one of the biggest fireworks shows ever) However, I love the Disney music that goes along with the show and I always love the part when tinkerbell flies over you. (DBF says I’m just a big kid )

4.Voyage of the Little Mermaid

VoyageoftheLittleMermaid.jpg

I think that this show is classic Disney. It goes through the main parts of the storyline. But all of the effects in the theater take the show to another level. You can’t just look straight ahead to see the show, it’s all around you. I can’t wait to see what the new Little Mermaid ride in the Magic Kingdom will look like!

3.Spectromagic

Spectromagic.jpg

I’m not a big parade person, but I like spectromagic, mostly because of the lights. :rotfl:. Its at night so there is no sun beating down on you while you’re trying to watch it, and seeing all the floats and characters’ clothing lit up is awesome.

2.Fantasmic

fantasmic.jpg

Of all of the Nighttime shows at Disney, Fantasmic is my favorite. I love the wall of water that they show images on and how you can feel the heat from the ring of fire in the water. Most of all, this is one of the few shows, besides the parades where you can see a majority of the characters. Plus, I love the music from this show, its very catchy.

1.Festival of the Lion King

FestivaloftheLionking.jpg

In my opinion, The Festival of the Lion King is the best show at Disney World. It has everything. There are very talented singers, dancers, and acrobats. There is even a fire breather. I also like that it doesn’t just go through the story of the Lion King. This show is always a must do for me at Animal Kingdom. :thumbsup2

I have never seen Main Street Electrical Parade or Finding Nemo the Musical so I'm looking forward to seeing those on our upcoming trip! :)

Wow what a cool life update!!! :cool1:

Congrats on winning the academic award and being chosen for the Political Science Major!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

You look amazing in that dress ;)

On to the shows - I have not seen any live so can't really comment but am looking forward to Illuminations and The Lion King - am glad it is number one on your list. Saying that I am also anticipating great things from Wishes and Fantasmic, lol!

I've seen illuminations once and I thought it was ok. I don't really remember a lot about it though :confused3, So i'll be looking forward to seeing that one as well. I'm sure you'll love the Lion King and Wishes. For some reason when I watch Fantasmic I can never get the ending music out of my head. I hum it for days. I don't know, maybe that's just me :lmao:

Definitely agree with your number 1 pick for Disney shows! I love Festival of the Lion King, and I think it has all the elements that go into making it a great spectacle.

I was happy to see that Fantasmic was high on your list, because sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who really enjoys it. I think it has the right combination of characters, storyline, and special effects.

You have to see the Main Street Electrical Parade if it is appearing in June. This turned out to be my favorite parade at Disney, and I think since you enjoy Spectromagic you'll enjoy the EP.

By the way...congrats on the award!!! :thumbsup2:woohoo:
Being a junior undergrad (although in a much easier major :rotfl:) I know how hard school can be, so that is a wonderful accomplishment!

Between doing so great in school and running so many races you certainly have a lot to celebrate (and take a break from) when you go to Disney in June!

How wonderful about your award! Awesome job!

I agree. Festival of the Lion king is my favorite. For some reason, I get choked up every time. It's sad that shows can make me cry, but I can get very emotional at the Lion King. lol

Fantasmic is such a great show! The only thing i don't enjoy is getting in and getting out. There is only one way in and out and its such a pain trying to get through the huge crowd.

And I do think that the Main Street Electrical Parade will be there so I am very excited to check it out. I've heard a lot of great things about it.

And i'm glad I can share my school stress with someone. What's your major? I have a week and half left and then finals. I can not wait until that feeling of relief that i'll have when this semester is over.

Yes! I HAVE to see this show every trip. Everyone in the show is so talented. I feel like anywhere else I would have to pay to see it.

So I have been able to get some shopping done.

I ordered some new flip flops. That is what I live in during the summer.
I got tevas (per the advice from the disboards). I got them in all black. I tried them on and the are VERY comfortable. :thumbsup2
Tevamush.jpg

I also got two pairs of Old navy flip flops like I do every year. Who can beat 2 pairs for $5

I also bought two pairs of shorts. I needed new shorts anyways. These are the pair that I got from old navy and I also got a black pair from forever 21.

OLdnavyshorts.jpg

And last but not least I bought an Epcot passport!
epcotpassport.jpg

I was reading about them here on the Dis and my curiosity got the best of me. I figured it would be a good souvenir and a reason for us to go deeper into each of the countries in the world showcase. I know that they stamp them at the kidcot stations. While we won’t be doing any of the activities at the stations  I heard that each country will write your name in their language so I think that would be pretty interesting.

Thunder over Louisville

So last night was Thunder over Louisville which is like the kick off event to all of the Kentucky Derby Festivities. This years theme was superheroes. They did throw in a couple of Disney songs. I heard "When ou wish upon a star" and I heard buzz lightyear's catch phrase "To infinity and beyond" I thought I would share some of the pictures (Taken by our local newspaper) I was actually working the event for school so I was able to get some great seats for the actual event on top of one of the buildings here in the city.

Love the shopping pics - have not heard of them flip flops before. Will have to go and do some research!

Yay on getting the Epcot passport and love all the pics of the fireworks - am glad they threw in some Disney elements! :thumbsup2

Love going shopping for summer clothes! It's great that you found some flip flops and shorts to wear.
My major is elementary education with a reading endorsement. I don't have to write a lot of papers; I just do a ton of internships, projects, and presentations.

Wow, you were not kidding about the Thunder fireworks!!! That looks like a MASSIVE show.

The Epcot passport looks very cool, and, as you said, a really unique souvenir. I hope you can get your name in all the languages!

I had never heard of tevas before either, but they are very comfortable. I've been living in them since I got them.

That sounds like a really interesting major. I bet it keeps you really busy. Would I be correct to assume that you want to be a teacher? I thought about teaching, but I just don't have the patience for it. Teaching is a much harder job than people think. And I wish I didn't have so many papers. I have a 15 page one due next Monday :scared1:

The passport is really cute. It comes with a bunch of stickers for each country that you put on each page. So of course I had fun doing that :rotfl:

TOP 5 Disney Snacks

So technically these all don’t classify as a “snack” at Disney World but they will for today’s purposes

5. Dole Whip

CW410-434.jpg

I tried one of these on my trip in 2009 and they were very good. Very refreshing on a hot day in the Magic Kingdom

4. Starring Rolls Cupcake

red-velvet-cupcake-front.jpg

I’ve heard a lot about these cupcakes on the DIS and I LOVE cupcakes so I’m sure these will be great. I leaning toward the marble one but I’ve heard good things about the red velvet cupcake as well.

3. Ohana’s Bread Pudding

ohanabreadpudding.jpg

I’ve also heard a lot of amazing things about the bread pudding at Ohana on the DIS. It looks tasty and I hope its as heavenly as people describe :thumbsup2

2. Grey Goose Citron Lemon Slush

France_CitronSlush.jpg

This has to be high on my list because I am finally 21 and can try one of the slushes in Epcot. I’m very excited to finally have my first Disney drink

1. Mickey Ice Cream Bar :mickeybar
MickeyBarRooks.jpg

This had to be my number one. I can’t go to Disney without having a Mickey ice cream bar. It’s the classic Disney treat and they are VERY good.
