Universal just opened the Mummy Ride at USF and did so with the help of the director-Stehpen Sommers.
Why doesnt disney which is in need of ideas for its theme parks like to M.Night Shmalyan to help male a attraction out of one of his movies like Sings/SixthSense/Unbreakable and now The Village???
His moives have been big success's for disney so why doesnt disney tap him for idea's to make a attraction for disney, it would be a perfect fit for MGM which needs something new and would likely be far cheaper than a MS or EE in AK.
What are your thoughts on this??

Probably because they were rated PG-13, and people are already criticising Disney for not being as "Family Friendly" as they believe they should be.

Really scary or extremely intense rides don't fair well at Disney parks.

Disney hasnt really attempted to create a intense/scary ride so we have nothing to say it wouldnt work. But the ride that would most meet that critieria would also be one of its most popular in TOT.
And wasnt POTC also pg 13???? So i guess that is also too scary/intense??

I think Disney should make a Disney Villain dark ride. That would be brilliant!!!!!

er...What exactly would they do for a ride based on those concepts? What would you do/see in those areas. Ok, you got story, but other than the supernatural, how do you work intensity in without seeming forced.

I know I'm very sleepy right now...Oh, of the ones that I've seen, I think Unbreakable would be the most interesting...You could have all kinds of diasters that you miraculous survive, with subtle hints of a fragile villian manipulating the action. A train could drop on the guests...nearly missing them as their vehicle "reacts" for them...etc...Ok I can almost see that one. You may have a point. M.Night Shmalyan could help with mood and script, and pace...

Anyone know what the "M" stands for...

I love your idea! I feel that you could make a PG ride from a PG13 movie, just tone it down a little and MOST of the family could do it. Also, if it is not a coaster/thrill ride all the adults with motion sickness, back problems, heart problems (if it is not TOO scary) could ride it. I guess if it was just a lot of seeing Dead People it would be a lot like the HM though.

They already have. M Night has not been really receptive to the idea of his films being turned into theme park rides. He nixed it pretty quickly.

Im sure with a proper financial inducement he may change his mind.
But if not one of his movies the Co. should try to get him to come up with some idea's for a attraction for mgm, it is a perfect fit and with his excellant movies he has shown the creativity needed that with the help of WDI that somehing special could be created and in sure he would have a cameo in it somewhere.

I don't think that Disney is short on ideas for great attractions...they are short on people that are willing to pay for those attractions and not funnel the money to places like ABC.
