A hypothetical situation

I’m going to go against the grain here and say let the offers rip BUT make offers on SSR that you think are too low to get accepted. Let’s call it a DVCFORLESS 5 Star Only strategy….

Hey thats how I ended up buying 200 of my Aulani points without even telling my husband about it... I just knew my offer was too low to get accepted

There's a chance you will later decide that something might have been a slightly better fit for your needs. But you clearly know that you like BRV. A lot. So it will never be a terrible choice to have purchased there. Remember: The value of a timeshare is in using it! This is something that the broader DVC community does not always understand in their bones in the way that TUGgers might.

So, about those "experts". A lot of them are involved in the broader DVC ecosystem--either they are sponsored by the resale brokers, or they are directly affiliated with one. So they will tend to put the best spin on things. If you really want to know what past booking patterns have looked like, there is hard data here: https://dvcfieldguide.com/availability-tables

DVC Help has some too, but it appears they have had some data collection issues, because they have a swath of weeks for which no availability was available anywhere at any time, which I am pretty sure means they weren't collecting data those weeks.

And, as mentioned above, past performance is no indiciation of future results. There are a vareity of reasons for this, not all of which are necessarily going to get worse. For example, we are just coming out of a period where there was an excess of poitns sloshing in the system because banking rules were significantly relaxed during the lockdown. Things also ebb and flow with the macroeconomic environment---when times are tough, more points go into breakage.

I've had surprisingly good luck with waitlists. I do find other things by stalking, but so far, my waitlists have hit before I have found the same thing online most of the time. I am not typically looking for unicorns, though, so that might help.
I stopped stalking the one night i need for vgf and just gling to let the waitlist do it's thing. I'll check once a day or twice but that probably wont do anything 🤣 I figure since its a one night i have a chance and the backup is there if not

So someone on Reddit decided to call me combative and annoying. 😂 and sent a link to this chat. Happened to see it as I was scrolling through Reddit. Wonder if it’s anyone from this group🤔. Again, I am sorry if I have offended anyone - I know you all are much more experienced and I do appreciate all the help. You’ve actually opened my eyes up to a lot of things I wasn’t aware of. My broker is probably on here too. Apologies to everyone
Ignore them and keep asking questions, thats what this board is for. If someone doesnt like it they dont have to read it or answer.

Unfortunately there are some mean spirited people on here, but not very many and you just ignore them.

Nothing wrong with being excited and asking questions, your posts were very popular with a lot of activity

Of the places you’ve stayed, SSR is the only one I would personally buy unless you decide you absolutely love someplace AND need home resort priority for your desired room type and planned travel time (e.g., December).

I know you have expressed some, shall we say, lack of love for CCV. Here is a tour DVC fan recently did of their renovated 1 BR villas that might interest you:

https://dvcfan.com/dvc-resorts/copper-creek/refurbished-copper-creek-1bedroom-villa/

In case you're still reconsidering CCV, I do think CCV points would get you both an ability to secure 1 BRs at WL during high demand times and points that have some of the best long-term value in the eyes of many.

That said, definitely agree about waiting for dues info to come out and for resale inventory to pickup in the next few months. You might also want to give some more thought to the right UY. You've expressed some desire to travel in December and not liking the summer. A September or October UY might be ones to consider. September is one of the lowest traffic times at WDW and also the lowest point chart, although it is still hot and hurricane season. Just some things to think about. Personally, I would not be one to just go searching for any contract with any UY, even if it were a deal. I'd want to secure the UY I prefer, or at least one I think would work well for my planned travel.
I think she should stay in a refreshed ccv room for sure, I thought id never want to stay at ccv again because I didnt like the room and now I really want to stay in the one bedroom ccv room after the refresh.

If you stay at ccv refreshed and like it, you're going to be so happy with the value of your purchase

They want 103 that’s why I’m thinking 93
Put low ball offers in, you never know who might accept. My $82 SSR they were asking for $95 and they ended up paying the MF too.

I lowballed them $80 so we could meet in the middle of what i actually thought it would sell for and we ended up there. They can counteroffer and then you can go up a little from there.
