Hi there,
I am looking for a nice yet affordable place to stay for a family of six: me, my husband, our two children and their grandparents. We would prefer to stay all together in a two-bedroom timeshare style condo, with a kitchen etc. and a nice pool, close to DLR.

We want to visit DLR/DCA for at least four days, and we plan on visiting Hollywood, Legoland, San Diego Zoo and Knott's Berry Farm.

Can anyone suggest a good place to stay? Should we stay near DL the whole time and make day trips to the San Diego area attractions or split our stay between Anaheim and San Diego.

Thanks in advance!

I would stay in Anaheim when you are in that area, and move to San Diego for that portion. Traffic can make those "day trips" really looooong.

Residence Inn on S. Clementine is close and has great reviews from several friends (one stays there 2 weeks every Xmas). It sleeps 6 and has a full kitchen.

Thank you! Great tips!

I am looking at a renting a unit at the Worldmark Anaheim-worth checking out. Reasonable price if you google timeshare rentals.

I am bumping this to see if there are any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any help out there.

The Grand Californian has a timeshare wing (Disney Vacation Club).

Some members of DVC rent out their time (goes by points, not size/dates).

The "Timeshare Store" http://www.dvc-resales.com/dvclisting.cfm has some GCH listings. We are renting a portion of our yearly points this year, so I know they do the GCH. (We own a portion of the GCH)

Suites are flexible, from a hotel-style single room up to a massive 12 guest suite. For 6 I'd check the one bedroom or two bedroom options.

Good luck!

That's a great suggestions. I would love to rent points and stay there, the only issue is that I find the whole process of renting points challenging to say the least. I went to that site and didn't even find the rental section. Maybe I am missing something.

We are staying at the Hyatt orange county. We got a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suite. 1 king bed,2 queens and a pull out in the living room. There is shuttle service to Disney, free for kids under 10. Across the street from they and a few restaurants. The only negative aspect is being charged for parking, but otherwise it's a great hotel.

Back before my oldest moved out we had 7 of us when my parents joined us. 5 in my family and my 2 parents. We stayed at the Staybridge Suites on Manchester several times and it is very nice. It has a king bedroom/bath and a 2nd bedroom with 2 queens and a bath. Then in the middle there is a couch and a kitchenette. They also serve a nice full breakfast every morning that is included.

We have stayed there in several years because my daughter has moved out and my dad rarely goes anymore but we are staying there again this Dec.

Good luck and you can find it on getaway today to get deals also. :)

I agree, many amenities and clean. Stayed there many times.

We stay at Residence Inn Maingate (on Clementine) often and really enjoy it. The staff is great, hot breakfast daily, and they grocery shop for you if you need it!!

You could try a vacation rental.

My favorite website is www.vrbo.com

I've rented several different houses from Oregon, to FL, to San Francisco. I love having a house with a kitchen and washer and dryer.

Something to consider. :)

I never tried to rent from them. I did find where you have to call.

The points system allows flexibility....for XXX points you can get a 2 bedroom suite for 3 days, OR a 1 bedroom suite for 4 days OR a studio for 5 days OR a 12 guest grand villa for one night etc. It's not exactly divided up that way.. but you get the picture.

A two bedroom suite that comfortably sleeps 9 costs 46 pts. night, 56 on fri-sun. Weekly rate is 342. This is for mid September.

The points 'cost' goes up a little during high demand seasons.pirate:

Overall it is a fantastic system that allows for flexible planning. (Points count on cruises too!):)
PS- the suites come with a full kitchen and a washer/dryer. Some overlook the pool, others the parks.
(Don't remember how the hotel style studio is designed)

Enjoy! pixiedust:

The Embassy Suites and Homewood Suites can accomodate a family of 6. ES has a small kitchenette and HS has a full size kitchen. I believe the drawback to those properties is that there is only one bathroom, which could make getting ready in the morning tricky. However, they both offer a great free breakfast in the morning which can save you alot of money versus buying food at the park.
