A Hesitant Nanny Debating In-Room Child Care

In November we used kids nite out. I was not impressed with fairy godmothers, when I called to make the reservation, they asked NOTHING about my kids. I said one had an epipen, for egg allergy, I needed someone knowledgable about that, and they said I could speak to the person that day who showed up. Fairy godmothers didn't ask my kids ages, their sex, names nothing.
I ended up using kids nite out, and they were fabulous! I spent about 40 minutes on the phone going over likes, dislikes, the epi pen, routines, etc. They made me feel very much at ease.

I left my two little ones, they were 15 months, and 4 at the time of the trip. We took my two older ones to discovery cove for the day, so the babysitter was there all day with them. We gave her permission to take them out of the room (we were actually at the nick hotels). The only thing they don't do is water activites, but my older one did all the other stuff at the resort that day (arcades, park, kids activities). Plus, she got them both to nap! We walked into the room after being gone all day, I was thinking the kids would have had it by that point. My daughter sees us come in the room, and says, mom, dad, I'm not done playing with my friend, could you please leave!!
That says it all to me right there!

For the record, we have only used a babysitter at our home about 5 times (our oldest is 8), so this was a huge step for us. But, we really wanted to take our two oldest to DC, and clearly the little ones were just too little. I could of taken them, and they would not of done the dolphin swim, but my 4 year old would not of had that (she has swam on her own since 2), so she would of been miserable. It was worth it, and I have nothing but glowing reviews for kids nite out. Don't feel guilty, and enjoy yourself! Its your vacation too!

When your child gets older, you will love the kids clubs! We have used the neverland club 3 times. We always eat dinner at ohana without kids (or with one because so far we have always had one not old enough for the kids clubs)

My daughter is not old enough to go to the "Child Care Clubs" on Disney property...

Thank you so much for your raves! I think I will be very pleased with Kids Nite Out - quick question - did you ask for a younger sitter/grandmotherly sitter? I think Madi will do better with an older 20's - 30's sitter. These are the "sitters" she has here!

Thanks again!!!

1st of all, You are allowed to have a life and enjoy yourself.

Kids Night Out and Fairy God Mothers are both excellent. Both are insured and give you a choice of "preference" for type of sitter you are comfortable with.
Too bad your kids are not old enough for the kids clubs on property becasue the Neverland Club at the Poly is hands down the best one on property. The only better one I can think of is Deck 5 of the Disney Wonder & Magic. :woohoo:

I may be the only one but I would NEVER leave my child in a room with a stranger (even at wdw).I am sure they check out these people but they can leave at any point with a child and be long gone before anyone even knew.I love the kids clubs and would use then anytime but I would not have a stranger in another town stay with my kids in a hotel room..I am not saying those who do are bad parents that is just me I wouldnt do it.I see maybe a older child that can say no or run but not a child that can not express what is going on..

WSS. It's just not worth it to me. I'm sure they're great, and I don't begrudge anyone for using these services. It just comes down to what you are comfortable with. I wouldn't be able to enjoy my time out if I was worried about dds back at the hotel room. JMHO.

We asked for a more grandmotherly type and got Ginny Reuter. We have used her 3 years in a row now, and will use her next year also. She is the best, and my kids just love her (they are 7 year old boy/girl twins). They talk about her all the time. She has even sent them gifts when we came home. I would highly recommend her.

We did not ask for a specific sitter. We got a young 20's girl, great. She had a lot of energy (and she used it we were gone early in the AM, and back around dinner time). She brought her little travel case with tons of toys, barbies, and playdoh, a computer with a dvd player, and a few other things (those are what my daughter talked about the most).
My daughter still talks about when we left her with the fun girl, and she got to play all day long. And then asks can she do that again.
Go out, have fun. I can't speak highly enough for the service. I was 100% confident in them taking care of my kids for the day (my husband is a police officer too). We had a ball with my older two at discovery cove, which was such an amazing day, and we could of never done it without someone watching my younger two.
