In November we used kids nite out. I was not impressed with fairy godmothers, when I called to make the reservation, they asked NOTHING about my kids. I said one had an epipen, for egg allergy, I needed someone knowledgable about that, and they said I could speak to the person that day who showed up. Fairy godmothers didn't ask my kids ages, their sex, names nothing.
I ended up using kids nite out, and they were fabulous! I spent about 40 minutes on the phone going over likes, dislikes, the epi pen, routines, etc. They made me feel very much at ease.
I left my two little ones, they were 15 months, and 4 at the time of the trip. We took my two older ones to discovery cove for the day, so the babysitter was there all day with them. We gave her permission to take them out of the room (we were actually at the nick hotels). The only thing they don't do is water activites, but my older one did all the other stuff at the resort that day (arcades, park, kids activities). Plus, she got them both to nap! We walked into the room after being gone all day, I was thinking the kids would have had it by that point. My daughter sees us come in the room, and says, mom, dad, I'm not done playing with my friend, could you please leave!!
That says it all to me right there!
For the record, we have only used a babysitter at our home about 5 times (our oldest is 8), so this was a huge step for us. But, we really wanted to take our two oldest to DC, and clearly the little ones were just too little. I could of taken them, and they would not of done the dolphin swim, but my 4 year old would not of had that (she has swam on her own since 2), so she would of been miserable. It was worth it, and I have nothing but glowing reviews for kids nite out. Don't feel guilty, and enjoy yourself! Its your vacation too!
When your child gets older, you will love the kids clubs! We have used the neverland club 3 times. We always eat dinner at ohana without kids (or with one because so far we have always had one not old enough for the kids clubs)

My daughter is not old enough to go to the "Child Care Clubs" on Disney property...
