A heads up for anyone who just booked

I received my res confirmation today for the booking made with the AXA code. The "Amount Due" section of the res indicates that the remaining "package amount" is due 21 days prior to our arrival date. This is NOT a package, it's a room only res through CRO, not WDTC.

I called to check it out since I'd already paid the one night room rate deposit. I questioned the pre-arrival payment requirement noted on the confirmation. The agent on the phone indicated that WDW "would like you to pay that amount" prior to arrival BUT that it was not required.

Just thought I'd pass that information along for those of you with like reservations. Perhaps this is additional evidence that WDW is trying to consolidate the CRO/WDTC reservation offices AND come up with a consistent payment requirement for all reservations. . .?

Thanks for posting that Tess.

I too got the same thing and questioned the CM. He said it was Disney's "preference" that we pay 21 days before arrival.

This is new.

How does that apply to DU bookings? Since they bookk directly with WDW, do I have to pay 21 days before too? My DU info says final payment due on date of arrival. Hmmmm.

I read every line on mine, and it doesn't say anything about the balance being due 21 days before checkin. It just says amount due on deposit 0.00.

CRO and WDTC have always had different "rules" regarding deposit and final payment, as well as cancellation policies. Used to be when you called Disney reservations you always got CRO. Now you could get either a CRO CM or a WDTC CM. Depending on which one makes the reservation, you might get the 21 day advance payment rule (WDTC) or you might not (CRO). In the past it was always better to make sure you were speaking to a CRO CM as it would mean you'd end up with the less restrictive CRO policy regarding final payment and cancellation. Now it looks like they are trying to combine the "rules" , as well as having both CRO and WDTC CM's answer the reservations line. Disney "prefers" you pay 21 days in advance, but you don't have to? Guess when I'd make my payment if I don't have to at 21 days ;).

Same thing for me,brownii. I read it front and back and it doesn't say anything about when the balance is due. There is the 5 day cancellation policy on the back, but that's it. It looks just like every other confirmation I've ever gotten. I booked about a week ago and got this Saturday.

I have heard that they are trying to combine WDTC and CRO, maybe this is the start of it???

I what if its my preference to not? ;)

I booked using the AXA, they asked if I wanted unlimited park passes and I said yes. I had already booked this reservation back in October 2002 (room only) with a Disney Club discount. I paid $100 and the rest was due 21 days before we arrived. Now I have the package using the ZXWB code and they are telling me my full payment is due 45 days prior to arrival. Can this be right?? I'm a DC member until Dec. 2003 and I thought it was 21 days, not 45 on any reservation. Does anyone know if this is correct or experienced this?

RobinLyn,
I am in the same boat as you and this is how DU explained it to me. Once you booked your stay using the ZXWB code, your reservation became a WDTC reservation. This means your balance due is 45 days out. It is no londer a DC reservation so you lose out on the 21 days in advance option. Hope this explains it.

Ok, in all serious now I have gone over my AKL ressie form & nowhere does it state when I need to pay.

An I blind?

Under my amount due section there is no info.

When we originally booked I made sure I was talking to CRO and my balance was due at check in. Then when I had the AAA discount applied they changed it over to the 21 days prior requirement. Last week when my DH called to get the AXA code discount he asked the CM if it would now go back to balance due at check in and he said they were keeping it with the 21 Day requirement because it would just be easier that way. We didn't quite understand that but we didn't question it. I guess we were just so happy to be saving $386.00 we didn't think.

Thank You Beast2Prince! I just didn't understand the change and the CM on the phone said it was because I went from "room only" to a "package" and I just wasn't sure if she was just guessing or what. She didn't seem to sure of what she was telling me, LOL. I have had several DC packages before and never paid until 21 days prior. But it is what it is and the price was right ;)

This always seems to happen with code rates. The confirmations will show that a balance is due 21 days prior but as long as it is a room-only it is NOT due until check-in. The confirmation just get generated that way because the code rates go in the package system. Confusing, I know. :)

I got my new conformation today after appling the AXA code. Only thing is I booked room only and it says packaget....It does not say anything about balance due 21 days prior....If I was booked a package would the amount of tickets also be on the conformation?? The amount it says I owe is the total of my nights.... I think I need to call back and make sure I am room only...thanks...amy

I don't know what the deal is with those of you who are getting this 21 day deadline with your reservations. Only thing I would suggest is to call CRO and specifically ask them to send you something in writing saying that balance is not due until check-in. I, personally, would not worry about it though, as long as you got verbal confirmation.

I did not get this on my room only reservation. I was just on the phone with CRO the other day, as a matter of fact, and she said that I have the 5 day cancellation policy and payment due upon arrival. This is also corroborated on the back of my reservation slip. On the front of the reservation, it does, however, list an "AKA Disney Package". As far as I can tell, this only means you are getting a coded rate.

Hope this helped!
Jeff

I think I can answer this! I am a Diseny Club member. Called the 800# and booked a room for Aug. Well, they transferred me to another number (WDTC and I had no idea). I was told I needed to put $100 deposit down and pay the balance within 45 days. That sounded strange to me so I didn't pay the deposit then.

I got a call from Darnell at CRO today. She offered me the Come Back rate offer since we weren't offered it when we were at AKL earlier this month (very nice of them!!). Anyway, she changed my ressie and told me I needed to pay the deposit of 1 night only, had a 5 day cancellation fee and balance was due at check in. I questioned her about what WDTC had told me. She said that was their policy BUT as a DC member I wasn't supposed to be held to those guidelines. Stange I know.

I got my confirmation letter today. In the amount due it just says the amount of deposit that's due (I haven't paid the deposit yet). Nothing about when the balance is due.

Thanks Pooh Girl. I think WDTC reservations need to get things together because this is really getting confusing. It seems now there is no longer a seperate number for taking care of DC members. I know we have the 800# but I think if you call the regular WDW # you get the same tape. I don't understand why they can't get things right for the people who are Disney Club members and paid for this privilege for 2003. I told them twice I was a DC member and it didn't make any difference. I wish there was a way I could talk to someone from CRO. I just keep getting WDTC on the phone. It truly stinks! I hope I didn't waste my money renewing DC membership. So far it seems so. Where oh where are the DC perks!! I miss them already :(

thanks for the heads up. I made reservations last week and when i called the reg wdisney number, a wdtc member answered the phone, after realizing that I asked for a CRO member and he got one on the phone for me. I too used the code, but my reservation paper just shows the deposit due, nothing about the final payment.

The last 2 years I have booked through CRO to use my airline employee discount rate and this year when I tried to book through CRO they told me that to get the discount I would have to book through WDWT!! Has this happened to anyone else? I had to give a $200.00 deposit and I have to pay the balance 45 day in advance inorder to get the 50% off rate now!! When I received my comformation in the mail, there was something reguarding sports complex adm or mini. I called to ask about this, and they said it was a new thing to add to the room booking. Is this WDWT's idea of making it look like a package so that they can book it instead of CRO???????
