A Happy Story "Thanks Disney"

While in Disney on April 22 our family was riding the Tomorrowland Transit Authority my son leaned over to look behind us and whooosh.. his new $20.00 hat was gone(wahhh)
CM said they would look at the end of the day.

While in Disney on April 25 our last day, we were walking around Epcot, right by the big Tink bush when my son noticed his "new" Pal Mickey was missing. The hook was still in his belt but the mouse was gone. So we called lost and found give them the information on both lost items and told my son son that this was a very hard lesson learned.

My son saved up his money to buy the "new" Pal Mickey, he already had the original one, he plays with it all the time. He is 9 years old and is a 100% pure Disney son, he could go to Disney and just being there is good enough for him, we don't have to do anything and he is happy.

With that being said let me tell you it took everything in my power not to buy him another Pal Mickey and a hat, neither one was truely his fault, his DM couldn't believe I didn't buy them again.

On May 9th in the mail addressed to him from Disney was his hat and his Pal Mickey (without the clip). all he kept saying was "I told you Disney was the happiest place on earth"

So for all the bashing I've seen on these boards of late, once again Disney shows why we bought into their DVC and have added on and will probally add on at least 2 more times.

I am very glad to hear that your son learned such a hard lesson and then was rewarded with such a wonderful ending. I am sure neither will ever leave him.

I have a magic camera that I swear I have lost 3 times at WDW. 3 TIMES!!! I know, careless, but it took me a while to figure out how to handle both my sons alone (each time was on a trip where hubby was meeting us after the boys and I got there a day or two early). Each time, I recovered my camera. I swear, I am thinking about selling it on Ebay and seeing if it shows up back in my mailbox.

I love Disney!!!

I am very happy for you and your son (and everyone who posted saying lost items were returned) but my story is just the opposite.

I lost watches on two separate trips (finally figured out that the backpack was knocking them off my wrist when I removed it to go on rides, so THAT won't happen again--duh me!). Even more upsetting was losing a Rock N Roller coaster Jacket that was very unique I had purchased on EBay. My daughter LOVED that jacket and accidentally left it on the monorail. I went to lost and found immediately and then two more times that trip (was staying at the Poly so it was easy to walk over to the lost and found area in the TTC), and of course filed a report if it showed up after we left, but never got the jacket back.

I hate to say this, but because all 3 items were rather unique (the watches were LE's) I concluded that either A) another guest who found the lost item kept it or B) The items were turned in and a CM kept them. I knew exactly where and when I lost everthing, so unless someone threw the items away I can't think of any other reason for not getting any of it back. The watches were replaceable (wtg Ebay) but I never ever saw the RnR jacket again. It was issued on opening day and not sold for long. Funny thing is as much as we loved it I recall paying very little for it on EBay. Even though it was unique it is still hard to imagine someone taking it, since it was well worn, but I don't know what else could have happened. I have never seen it again for sale anywhere, and am still sad over the loss.

Edited to say: But I did get back a wallet (with all the money and credit cards still in it) that I lost in Manhattan a few years ago. Go figure.

We lost a bag of rain ponchos twice in the same day. There were 7 -- total value about $50 including the bag they were in. Both times they made their way to the MK lost and found within 2 hours.

And we ended up not needing them because it didn't rain.

That's a great story! One of the many, many reasons WDW is the ONLY place we vacation.

There IS such a thing as magic!

It's nice to hear that your sone got his things returned to him, or at least replacment items. I lost a Handspring Visor there in 2000, on our last day of course. Put in a report for it but never saw it again. I figured someone got a nice Christmas present on my dumb behalf. Losing something of yours always makes you more conscious to return things you find.

On our last trip we were walking in Epcot behind a family and I saw $5 on the ground and I thought it had just fluttered from the ladies pocket, so I ran up and asked if it was hers. She looked surprised, put her hand in her pocket to check (where another bill was peeking out and ready to jump ship), said thank you and was very grateful. I know it was only $5, but it felt good to give it back.
