My sister, Christal, is 28 and the mother of two. Her youngest was born with a major heart defect, and has since had two major heart surgeries and needs one more. We were not sure he would live to his second birthday. He will celebrate that birthday in May and is doing well. He will undergo his final (hopefully) surgery this coming summer. Her step-daughter is 8, and has Rett syndrome. She is an adorable little girl, but lives her life in a wheelchair, unable to communicate except through an electronic board. She is not expected to live past 12 or so. Christal's life is very busy with holding down a fulltime job (her husband has been laid off since August), and being a fulltime mom.
My sister is also a Disney fanatic. She loves all things Disney. She's been to Disneyland once when she was about 8, and never to WDW. I am planning on taking her when her boys start school as long as her step daughter is well enough to leave.
Here's the happy part. Christal's mother-in-law goes to Fort Myers every year to stay with her brother. He's a doctor and has a condo she stays in. She takes her mom. Well, her mom canceled at the last moment, and she invited Christal to go. It took a little doing, but her job let her off. Then Christal husband, Matt, decided to surprise her with one day at WDW. He got his mom to set it up, and they went yesterday.
She was so excited. She just emailed me pics and she looks so happy. I am just so glad she got to have some time to herself and go to the happiest place on earth. She said it was everything she imagined it would be, and can hardly wait to go with me when we can spend more time.
I'd post her pics, but don't know how.
