Hey!!! My email was read on the DIS UnPlugged!!! FUN! Just made me laugh that I heard them read my question on the air!

I guess they give the listeners whose questions they read a lanyard or pin... so that is kinda fun!! I can't wait to see what surprise comes my way. Can I tell you I love that show! It helps me get through laundry every week! That and frosting cookies, or things like that. Love it!

I think it is several weeks, I agree. I think they want to confirm all of passengers. They have sold the cabins, but that final date is the last date before canceling without penalty... Maybe that is why it is such a big slot of time.

I don't understand about the whole upgrade thing. How does that work? A number have folks have gotten a call to move to cat T after they paid in full but I know that was some kind of waiting list (that I can't afford to even look at lol). We are GTY so have no clue how the whole thing works once we PIF but it sounds like we'll get an actual room number some time after PIF day?

Hey HD! I finally got into the attic this weekend and found that costume. It doesn't have a number size on it, it just says 'small'. It looks like it would fit a 5/6 year old to me, but it's been awhile since I've had one that young, so I may have no idea what I'm talking about! I'd be glad to send it to you if you want it, maybe it'll work

Oh you know I will post a photo!! Personally it was fun just to be recognized! Well, I asked them what cinches the deal for luring "non-Disney" types into the park... friends with kids, basically who are saying they don't want to go to WDW.... they ended up taking it as if it were friends without kids, but even still their responses and comments were great. they just shared ideas, basically. I could of course write a whole book about the sociology behind WDW and the people who are Disney loyal 100%... and the why... but then you have those who are not at all interested in Disney, and yet mostly because they don't know what they are missing, they just think it is another theme park... so it was nice to hear others chat about this issue...

Well I don't know if I can explain it perfectly, but as you know GTY means guaranteed at that level or higher. I think if they book you as GTY, that means you are at least going to get that room category, and if they overbooked they will move you up They must expect a % of people to cancel... I am sure it is a % based on historical data, but it also might be related to the # of people, as well, that whole cabin/deck balancing they have to do... I am not sure. But we hadn't expected to do GTY. In this case we just wanted a certain category because it was isolated on one of three floors, and when I last checked there were rooms, but at the time we booked while on the dream, the rooms were at GTY. So we knew worst case we'd be on one of those three floors, and they were right at mid-ship so that was fine, and if they upgraded us then we could be on that floor or higher, b/c the rooms category was not below where we would be in the category we booked.
From what you are saying, I am guessing you may be in that same situation, if they are already upgrading others, they may then be able to give you your cabin, eitherway you have a choice cabin I don't know when you will get your room #, probably closer to the actual departure!

Oh THANK you Michelle! Sure I would love to take it off your hands if you think it won't be missed! If you think it is a 5/6 I'd take it -- Nolyn is too small in the leg length and in the arm length for the 7/8 but he fills the 7/8 chest for the pirate costume pretty well... I am guessing the 5/6 would be great! Shall I PM you my address? Can I send you $ for shipping?

Oh interesting! I did a little digging today and it will be interesting to see if we get a room in our GTY or are upgraded. As best I can tell there are really only 26 rooms in our GTY but lots in the upper categories so it is possible my plan to book the cheapest verandah room possible may pay off with an upgrade.

Sure! It is entirely possible for that reason, as well as if they don't have the cancellations they were expecting, or if the location of the cabins where the cancellations do occur is such that they can't have your party size in it... so perhaps then they will move you! Probably won't know for sure until closer in... I think we got our paperwork only a few weeks before we left in Feb...

Yep! We go to Hawaii ONE WEEK FROM TODAY! In fact, I'll be on the plane in 7 days.

Not remotely packed, in fact I have to get out the bag of summer stuff. And do our taxes and clean the darn house. How I'll do all of that over the weekend with a baseball game, a cub scout den meeting and possibly 2 soccer games I've no idea. And hit the gym of course...the idea of being in a swimsuit next week is midly stressful.

Some of my stuff is out but some got packed away to make room for winter clothes and it's been SO cold here, nothing has come out yet. It was 32 yesterday. That's just wrong. I do have a pile of things out but it's just park bags and some other goodies that are for the FL trip. I've been more focused on trying to get my new camera set up.

I do have a list though so hopefully the actual packing won't be too bad.

The room assignments seem all over the board, some are getting them right after PIF (if they are GTY) but others, a few weeks before and for some 100 days out seems to be a magic day. Who knows. I'm fine with our location (aft verandah) as it jsut seems nice and private. Upgrade will just move us mid ship and probably remove the possibility of deck 5. I couldn't see paying more for that but if it happens, that's fine too!

HI!!! NO I hadn't missed it!!! I just hadn't gotten back on to DIS and such this week!!! YOU are awesome. I would most appreciate it, because I think he is just on the edge of one size into the other, and I bet this will fit no problem, and I could play around with it too, since I have my sewing machine, and with a base costume that is already constructed it can be a cinch to modify if I have to! It really is crazy weather, I agree! We have had cold and 50s all week... can you believe that!!??

I am packing mostly tomorrow. DH is taking the dog to "grandma's" and the boys are going along for the ride... this will give me most of the day to myself to get organized! I am sure you are feeling the same way! It is coming up fast!

They say there isn't a rhyme or reason to the upgrades, but either way if you book a cabin you are happy with everyone wins. In my mind Disney is just Disney and that is all that matters!

Okay, well LITERALLY we will be flying by night in six days, off on our Mediterranean adventure this spring break. I have a lot of packing and such to do before we head out, and I will look forward to posting a mini TR here when we return! I should have some time to DIS before we leave, but for now, I am up to my ears today with packing and organizing! I've been doing some "cruise" shopping for the kids, still trying to get all that sorted out for the summer trip as well as spring break, but I will have lots to share when I return!!!

I also got to choose my DIS Podcast gift selection!! It was the pin and lanyard. I will enjoy using the pin on my camera strap, and the lanyard for something else, not sure what yet!

AND I have some FE gift updates to share, and should be able to post that tonight!!! I want to show you what my crafty project is all about! IF you are on my cruise and participating in the FE, don't PEEK!!!!!

A spring break Med. Cruise sounds like fun. I can't wait for your mini tr when you get back. I may have to PM you some questions. We've been thinking of doing a big family cruise to the Med. on RCL. But when the turmoil started in Egypt, our plans got put on hold. We REALLY want to do one of the cruises that stops in Egypt.

Can't wait to see your FE gifts.

BTW, I'm going to be in D.C. for a large part of the break, but you'll be in Europe. Since my SIL is having a baby this summer, I'll be in the MD/DC area a lot. Maybe a summer DISmeet?
