A guilt trip over a pin

Poor Raul is locked in the hollow tree until Tues..so this is party time!!! What he doesn't know doesn't hurt him..right?? And anyway, how would he possible find out??

No one here would tell.

Donna

PS With my luck, the stranger i would have found, would have ended up loving the pins, and keeping them for themselves..lol

Well I just spent 7 days at the parks, and only found one lanyard pin, the Donald with the color block behind him. But there were tons of those Seven Dwarf heads on all the lanyards.
I really don't think it is fair that people can buy those pins on Cheap pins for so cheap and then use them to cover every lanyard with them. Every lanyard had them, some had nothing but them. come on guys, 100 Dopey pins for $77. 77. That is less than $1.00 a pin and you are getting a good lanyard pin. And what is even worse than that is I went to DTD and saw people trading those lanyard pins (especially the USA Mickey and donald) for the 4th of July LE pins to people who didn't know any better. These people who do that ought to be ashamed of themselves.
Seeing things like this really turn me off trading sometimes, that people can feel no guilt for loading the lanyards with these "head" pins.
I don't know what disney can do about it, but they have to do something. Peggie

I may get flamed, but I have to add my 2 cents ......

I have also seen inconsistencies with cast members. I have seen duplicate pins on CM lanyards. I have been told I could only make one trade, two trades or multiple trades by cast members. I accidently made a trade for two pins and I gave a CM a pin that he already had on his lanyard (it was an honest mistake). He followed me out of the store and informed me that he already had the pin on his lanyard. I returned the pin, no problem.

Now, this is where I may get flamed .......

I disagree with everyone concerning the Snow White & the 7 Dwarf pins. Yes, they may be all over the park but according to the rules of Disney, they are "TRADEABLE" pins. If they have the Disney trademark/copyright on the back, they can be traded.

Think about it ..... Parents save for years to take their children to WDW. I'm sure everyone will agree that spending a week at WDW is not cheap, even if you stay off-site. Some people cannot afford to pay $6.50/pin so their children can enjoy the "hobby" of trading. So, they go on-line and purchase "TRADEABLE" Disney pins on E-Bay for $0.60/pin. Yes, they may be all over the park, but have you ever seen a childs face after they trade "one of those pins" for one of their favorite Disney characters?

I hope I have not offended anyone, but I wanted to make sure everyone saw "both sides of the coin". Yes, there are people that can afford to buy pins, instead of "those pins" to trade. However, Disney has made the rules and they are "TRADEABLE" pins.

Okay, I've got the firehose ready ......... flame away!

You make a valid point we3luvdisney but I would wager that the average person who is just starting to collect pins has no idea about these sites were you can purchase .60 or .77 cent pins just to trade at WDW. The folks that are selling the lanyard pins on eBay for profit I would wager do.

But since you can't have separate rules, we have to live with the rules.

Interestingly enough, my son was trading his nice, Disney Store pins to get those little dwarf heads! Of course we knew nothing at the time...and he also, of course, never did find Grumpy!

Just curious ... are the NYC pins tradable in WDW? I'm referring to the round pins that have NYPD Mickey, FDNY Mickey, and Statue of Liberty Minnie.

In DLR they are NOT acceptable traders when trading with CMs, so I was just wondering about at WDW.

I wear mine on my lanyard, and I am constantly being asked if I will trade them..since I only have one of each, I don't..I have seen them on CM lanyards, but they are always taken before I get to them...so my answer is a loud YES..I wonder why they don't take them at DLR??? they are also good traders at pin meets.

Donna

DLR CMs won't accept them because they have that glossy coating which is against CM trading policy, although DLR CMs all agree they'd probably trade rather quickly.

Donna,

It's because out here in the great state of California, we are a bit more picky than your southern folks. We prefer the original Cloisonne or the acceptable faux (synthetic) Cloisonne to that knock off epoxy stuff! We are originals and we prefer the original (Disneyland, the original, Engr-Chas, a TRUE original)

if spent more time paying attention to details like Chas does, instead of my other job (see above) I would've know that..

Yes it is a dirty job, but someone has to do it..only a short time left 'till the Sept event, and we have lots of pictures to go through..any volunteers????:p
