Day 6 - Tuesday, November 16
What a beautiful morning! Woke up at 7:00 and hit the fitness center. The walk to and from was nice. I jumped on the scale and was shocked to see I'd lost weight. It was the magic, of course. When we got back to the room I was hungry so we ordered more room service. Took coffee on the balcony and listened to the World come alive. (Have you heard this?) The castle was draped in what appeared to be toilet paper. We found out later what that was all about.
Headed out for AK shortly after 12:00. The bus was empty, crowds low. We went straight to Kali RR where I refused to wear the poncho. DH pleaded with me. A nice woman asked if I wanted to wear her hat. I refused again, and of course I got...SOAKED! So did DH. What a riot! Wanted to dry off so we walked the Jungle Trek. After that we stopped to have ice cream. (Mickey bar for me, strawberry bar for DH.) We were pleased with our treats! Headed over to Kilmanjaro. The animals were alert and active. The best safari ever! Next up was Pangani Trail. Hippos, gorillas, and fish - great! It was almost time for the parade but we decided to head over to AKL instead. Wanted to look around before the 5:00 PS at Boma.
After dinner we took the bus to MK and the boat to GF. Decided to skip turn down service and put out the DO NOT DISTURB. For the rest of the evening we watched tv. I tried desperately to stay awake for all of The Amazing Race. Fell asleep somewhere during the last 20 mins. Another magical day!
Day 7 - Wednesday, November 17
When the wake-up call came at 6:00 I didn't recognize the mischievous voice demanding me from bed. Turns out Stitch had taken it upon himself to call the guests that morning. Mickey cutely apologized. This was Keys to the Kingdom day and what a perfect start! (Keys to the Kingdom Tour = 1 Magical Wish)
Arrived at MK shortly after 8:00. What a GRAND sight to see Mickey, Donald, Pluto and the dog from the DL commercials shooting Disney promo stuff right in front of City Hall. The characters posed as the crew set off a machine filled with metallic confetti. I was completely entranced! Walked zombie-like to Town Square and checked in with 'Brick.' Noticed by his tag he's a former Hoosier, leading to the discovery that we attended the same college. He gave everyone a cute little name badge and Guest pass. We got started at 8:30.
It's difficult to describe Keys to the Kingdom w/o giving away too much. All I can say is - WOW! DH agrees it's one of the most exciting things in the World. Maybe it was our guide, 'Lowell' who was just great! Had the opportunity to sit with him during lunch and he had lots of interesting stories. Like how he'd escorted the celebrities during SSW. Said they were all very down to earth and friendly. And for any AMC fan reading this, Lowell said some filming took place involving the Bess/Miranda story line. He said things are going to get really good, but was such a professional and wouldn't give me any details. Learned that the toilet paper on the castle was done by guess who? Stitch. What a terrific way to have spent the day!
After Keys we headed back to the hotel to rest up for shopping at DD and 6:20 PS at Fulton's. Started at the Marketplace, which we'd bypassed the other nights. As we finished up that area I noticed Earl of Sandwich. We totally forgot to eat there. Shoot! Walked over to World of Disney and did pretty much all the shopping there. I was bummed they didn't have any 2004 photo magnets. Headed over to Fulton's for dinner, which was delicious. (Dining reports ARE coming.)
Our last full day at Disney ... sigh!
