a reminder to all my WISH friends.
Today I was running on the treadmill when I heard a crash from the row behind me. I turned around to see a man lying face down and unconscious on a treadmill. People around him jumped down and turned his machine off and started to assist him. Basically he was not breathing at least steadily and had a very faint pulse. The paramedics arrived and shocked him, intubated him and were still performing CPR as they put him in the ambulance. Please Friends, make sure you have a yearly physical, check with your doc to make sure you are doing the right exercise. I am not saying this guy didn't, who knows, he may have had a check-up yesterday, it just reminded me of the need to be monitored, especially as you increase your level of activity.
I felt really weird because I didn't know what to do, keep running or get down and leave. I wasn't in the way, I was in another row of machines. DD was with me, in the Kids' Club, and I didn't want her exposed to all that, so I kept running, but felt strange. I did have a great run, I ran 1 3/4 miles straight and 3.3 miles total. Of that I think I actually ran 2.5 miles. I figured in the end, the best thing I could do was to try and get myself healthy so I lessened my risk of ending up like that poor man.
Whew, I know this is long but I feel better just "talking" about it. Thanks and have a good day.
