I was driving home from Hartford on I-91 yesterday when a quarter mile ahead of me I noticed a small hatchback with what appeared to be smoke and fire coming out from underneath the vehicle. I initially thought that it was a muffler dragging and creating sparks, it wasn't, it was an actual fire that continued to burn even brighter despite the fact that she was traveling 60 mph.
My cell phone was tucked in the back seat in my purse, well beyond my reach and as I wondered what to do, it had become apparent that cars passing her were slowing down and attempting to tell her that there was a problem. Obviously she didn't understand. Finally a mini van pulled in front of her and slowed down while a black Maxima pulled up beside her so she couldn't pass. Both cars slowed down to the point that she had to pull over and another car came up behind her as well. She must have been scared but finally she stopped by the time I had passed and realized what was going on. The other drivers were running to her car to help her.
