A Good Rain jacket???

WE are leaving for Disney in 3 weeks and I need a good rain jacket for myself that isn;t real heavy but will keep the rain and wind off me if it is a cool night....thanks so much

We usually take "dollar store" plastic rain ponchos to put over anything else we have. Less expensive..do the trick...protable..don't have to carry a coat.

My hubby got a rain coat in the sporting goods department at Walmart. It is rip stop nylon with a t-shirt like lining. It folds up pretty small. I borrow it all the time. Its lime green... but they did have several colors. The nicer ones were on hangers while the ones in boxes aren't very nice at all.

If you want to spend $89, I suggest the storm chaser from LL Bean.

They fit very well and are medium weight (ie won't rip or snag easily like the cheap light ones). They are expensive, but well worth the money. We have had them since May 2005 and they still look new. The seems are taped and sealed, no leaks whatsoever. They also have zippers under the armpits, so if its hot, you have ventilation. The hood fits well to protect your head and face. I haven't carried an umbrella since I got mine.

Just to clarify, these are unlined jackets but moderately warm since they are sealed so well. I wear polar fleece under mine to make it warmer. LL bean has some similar coats with zip out liners, if that interests you.

If you're not going to use the "cheap plastic rain poncho" route, try a sporting goods store. They often have waterproof rain jackets that are nicer than ponchos. Get one that's breathable - some waterproof jackets make you sweaty because they don't "breathe."

Or try Land's End - they have great stuff!! I've never been sorry with anything I bought from Land's End.
