Hey Folks,
Can anyone recommend a good Indian Restaurant in Orlando, suitable for a party of 8............ :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Hi Vizeman,

We have tried the New Punjab on International Drive, food was good for a US indian.
There is another called Memories of India in Turkey Lake road we have not tried this one, maybe somebody else can provide feedback.

Here's a few suggestions - I haven't personnally tried any off them though. We did have an Indian on IDrive once, can't remember which one it was, but I wasn't too impressed. It was expensive too!

Hiya :wave2:

If anyone has any excellent feedback on any indian places in Orlando I may be tempted to try it but I think it may be too hot and sticky to eat hot and stodgy food!

Try the Sangam on the 27S near the junction with the 192 the best indian I have had in the area and gets good reviews from the locals

I always think that this depends on ones own taste. In the Uk if you live in London and the south, nearly 85 per cent of Indian restaurants are Bangladeshi owned, and the further north you go this proportion decreases. In much of the north and yorkshire in particular you will find that many of the restaurants are Pakistani (Punjabi) owned, and it is only in Scotland where there is an equal proportion that are Indian owned.

So what ur used to in the Uk will depend on what you like abroad. Wlist there last week we visited four eating at two of them namely the New Punjab ( which I would recommend ) and the Taj ( which I wouldnt). I always ask the owners where the chefr comes from as this will determine the tase of the food. The New Punjab restaurant had a chef from the Punbab and the restaurant had some local Indan customers which I always see as a good sign and I wasnt disappointed with the food.

Happy eating

I must admit I find the lack of indian food in wdw depressing - do they not know that chicken tikka masala is eaten twice as often in the uk as roast beef? seems strange that a whole range of food is missed out!

I think they should replace Harry Ramsden's in Epcot with an Indian restaurant :)

Hi
I think there is a passage to india on the 192 also, which I have heard is good.

Personally I think they should stop calling the Harry Ramsden's in Epcot "fish and chips", because whenever I've seen anyone eating there, they're serving it with FRIES!!! (like you can't get those anywhere else in Florida! )

Considering World Showcase is meant to try and be as authentic as possible, they should really serve it with proper thick-cut chips if they want to pretend it's really British.

Sorry, just a personal bugbear of mine. Rant over!

i didn't know they served them with fries :sad2: that is terrible, you cannot beat proper thick chip shop chips ( mmmmmm)

I'm sure they served 'proper' chips from the Harry Ramsden take-out when we had some. Although they were a bit soggy!

Hey Vizeman, Loopyloo has it right. 'Memories' is BY FAR the best Indian restaurant in the area - and I've tried most of them. Head up Turkey Lake Road on the way to Universal and it's about 100 yds past the Sandlake Road junction on the rhs in a mall with bars, nail salons and the usual mini-stores.
Even though this is the best around - and the BEST recommendation is that a lot of Asians eat here - the menu is still far smaller than what we're used to back here, so your choices are limited. Price is higher too, but it's worth it to have a taste of home, yeah? PS don't be put off by this weird habit of describing dishes as being 'chicken in a hot and spicy gravy' - they mean sauce.......
Enjoy!

Thanks everyone, you've all been really helpful.
I think I've got plenty to be going on with now and a lot of deliberating to do

Don't go to Passage to India. We had the worst food poisioning, knocked us for six for 3 days. Read many reviews on other boards and they all say the same. Bad bad food.

I'm sure I read that the Sizler one had similar reports.
