I am sorry but what if he killed a little child or a mom/dad-- or anyone for that matter. NOPE-- he needs to suffer. Third time is no accident either- let him go underwearless-- no sympathies here.

I'd just like to folow up since I didn't really post since my OP.

First, to set the record straight, I very much take the side with the majority of you that said "no way" and and am constantly appalled by the level of grace that he is shown by the family.

Here's the real follow up...that side of the family celebrated Christmas on Sat. We didn't contribute. We just let it go. Nobody asked about it and we didn't make a stink. After dinner, we all sat around opening gifts and he sat there with nothing. Then when it was all over, he says something to other SIL and I about not being included in the "secret santa" exchange that we all enjoyed. He was all sad - they both look at me and I just shrug and say "well..." and walk away.

The way I see it, my big contribution to family harmony is that fact that I don't make a stink and tell everyone what I really feel about the guy.
